Its probably about £60 tops for the steel. But also time to make it plus welding wire and gas. So the price aint too bad with the next day delivery. I should start making these as I work in a fab shop :d.

It fits fine when turned 180.

Right o, the cars ready to have some welding. Ideally I think it needs a front panel and I'm not happy with the bottom of the sills. There is a little rot around the drivers rear inner wing and the hole where the overflow pipe goes.

I'm pretty sure sandblasting the underside is not something I would consider now everything above it has been freshly painted!! Believe me when I say it gets everywhere even when using the smaller portable units so I'd be very careful if I were you! my chosen method would be strip it by hand as you have been doing just to be safe.

Think once all the body work is out the way the prep and paint should be done in around 2 weeks. Should be back by end May.

That's cool. Mine has ground to a halt can't get near it

This will probably be up for sale. I wanted it to look original in the bay, a plates been welded in to take out the xe cutout. But at the same time the body shop ground down the stitch weld and seam welded the inner wing / turrets - which takes away the standard look... Groan, annoyed about that. The work the guys doing on the shell is immense, at the back it's all hand fabricated. Once finished I'll be giving him 3700 for body and paint work. The car will come with shell, early sr glass, doors, bonnet, tailgate, Daytona sr interior, no engine or box as sold the xe and was going to put a 1.3 back in, gaz coil overs, all the tank, axle, tie bars, arb all powder coated. New poly bushes and new brake line kit. New rear drums, bearings, track road ends etc. I don't think I'll get anymore sourcing an engine and nice wheels but it will be rolling with full paint and all glass in, doors built up.

What? why? that's a real shame

I'm waiting to see what it looks like when finished but I wanted the factory look, but I think it'll have the panel overlaps gone. I've spent so much money on it and I'm at least another grand for a 1.3 engine, alloys and tyres. I wanted an original car and I could get one for a lot less than what I've spent on this. Will see over the next 3 weeks once paints finished.

Your never ever going to find a genuine Jamaica yellow SR for under £5.000 imo..
And not one that will be this clean, there is engines about, so grab one and be the only genuine one on here!...

DO NOT SELL THE CAR! lol. If you are paranoid about the engine bay then dont pop the bonnet! The exterior will look bloody mint and I am sure anyone that looks at it will give you mega respect (more respect than a sport cause there are loads of them lol). As I said before I am a sucker for an sr and will be jealous when this little baby hits the road. If you really need the funds then sell if you have to. But if it aint about money then keep it! :thumb:

Lol, nah not the money. Was the fact on trying to get it standard but its 30 years old so can't really get the bits easily so I'll just dial it back a bit and made it a good useable 1.3 sr....with really good body work and paint lol

I wouldn't worry bout the bay, it's not something you'll notice, I have a strengthening kit it mine, never bothered me

A Jamaica yellow SR is probably one of most rare Nova's, I wouldn't sell it if I were you, especially to the Axe man Meris lol
