Hi i've got 2 sets of wires on my E16SE engine loom and i'm not sure what they are for

Here is a pic..

The colours are as follows:

set 1 - Blue & Green/Brown

Any help would be much appreciated. Tom

a guess. they are the front brake pad warning lamp wires or the abs sensors. but burgo will correct me.

They come directly off the engine loom

I had a guess myself as there were only 2 other places they could go and i used the engine loom for the C14 i took out to match up wire colours and try and work it out.

I guessed at this..

Not sure what this does but i have one on my XE loom in my astra so i guessed it's needed.

I took these 2 wires to the 2 pin plug on the back of the block. However if this is unplugged the car still runs!??

The brown plug is the octane plug, yes it is needed.
The black plug looks like the one that connects to the dizzy housing underside.

no wonder im funking confused. c14se and e16se management is completely different. for a start you dont even have a ron plug on you and the plug youve put on the other two is wrong aswell!!

the blue green wire goes to the oil pressure sensor i think. what are the colour of the other two wires

ill go have a look at one of my spare looms

right bish try and keep up.

you first need these two plugs (pm me if you dont have them)

right the blue and brown/green wires go down to the oil temp switch downy by the crank pulley

the two browns go to this sensor on the bottom right of the inlet manifold

Ok thanks for the help

Is the oil temp switch located on the back of the block?? If so i've got that one correct (my plug must be slightly different)

I thought the other 2 wires might have to go to that sensor. It's missing on my engine so i'm in the process of getting hold of one.

I take it that octane plug is not needed then?

Ok cheers

I'm fairly new to all this and just trying to get my head round everything

My engine has E16SE stamped on the block. runs a dizzy and has a later style rocker cover (not the one found on GTE's)

Does it matter which engine loom i use? I'm currently running the bosch loom with the round type coil.

The engine runs fine although the idle is sometimes a bit high on start up. It hasn't been properly ran for a year since a minor rebuild so i'm thinking it might just need a good run.

The car was originally an SRI first registered in 93

Am i right in thinking it will need a CAT for the MOT? (I've got an ashley de-cat system on the car at the mo) and should i be using a siemens engine loom with a ron plug.

Shouldnt need a cat if you can prove where & what car the engine came from.
