Ok, the Nova is sprayed and looking damn fine :p Now it's time to focus on the interior. Since the dark brown carpet doesn't fit in with my black colour scheme, I'm selling it to John for a more fitting project. I've looked online at several different types of black carpet dye (the carpet I have is very light grey) and they all claim to be the best - obviously  Does anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with certain brands/ types? :thumb:

I used one I got from the valeters at work, big bottle of the stuff, didn't do an amazing job and gets on your trainers if their wet - **** tbh!! Auto smart stuff or something along those lines!

You dont need dye!!

Any matt finish spray paint will do this to Nova carpets....

Note wheel arch carpets in black :thumb:

I did just the same, have been doing it for ages as it lasts a damn sight longer then dye & is far easier/cleaner to do so.

Spray painting carpets with any normal rattle can is an age old valeters trick and works fairly well tbh and the bonus is that if it goes thin or wears out then another few passes with the same can and its fixed again.

Ive also used the dye that chris mentioned and its good stuff and durable too, its available from auto-smart valeting supplies just ask for carpet dye!

BUT.......

Word of warning, it dyes everything and does not come out, rubber gloves are a must and dont ffs do it inside you will become very high very quickly then very unconcious even quicker and it can be rather toxic, also you will need to leave it to thoroughly dry out before fitting it back or using the car after application for the same reason!

You are telling this to a girl who 1) used thinners to take the rooflining glue off the roof, with the doors shut, for 3 hours! and 2) Sprayed 'things' inside a car, with the doors shut LMAO lol although to be fair I was only about 15 at the time and getting high for free is great when you only earn £15/ week at a chinese take-away. Falling on deaf ears? Definately not!

Cheers for all the info, I'm going to go with the rattle cans as they seem to be the all-round favourite :thumb:

Aye rattle cans will be the far easier option tbh and as said if it wears out then go over it again, simples lol

Lol thats cool you sound like the type of girl id love to meet (damn you dougie) getting high is cool but from the way we were made to handle that dye and other stuff like Gard-X fabric spray it doesnt just make you high it makes you dead:eek:lol

As said, if it wears thin just lash some more on. It will feel crispy to touch but seriously - who strokes their carpet? The only places where it should wear anyway is the footwells but if you use mats it doesn't matter.

I sprayed the parcel shelf too then had all my plastic trim parts sprayed proffesionally with plastic primer then trimmed the door cards with boot sub carpet - very easy job.

Look surprisingly good, was expecting a bit more patchyness from spraying them, I'm guessing from the guages that was an early stage of your old turbo simps?

PS your inbox is full lol
