MK1 vinyl

Hey guys i know that a lot of you out there own mk1's and i was wondering if anybody knows the best way to remove the black vinyl from the bottom of the car! It looks a lot smoother and cleaner without it.
Please help if you can

this one comes up every week. Hair dryer on hot or a heat gun on low. DONT burn the paint. If you do, dont come back to me and say i told you to burn it. Start with the gun a long way from the car and gradually move it closer until the vinyl softens up. Might all come off in one piece or you could be there all day!!!!
