dual voice coil

how do i wire a dual voice coil sub from the amp? do i need a special amp or just a nomal 2 channel one do? i know im useless with these thingslol

It all depends what resistance you want it to run at.

Humm interesting subject I've got a JL12w3 running it on just one coil at the mo (crap cheap amp).
Single channel amp ie mono in think if I'm right you go from one side (one set of terminals) to positive then neg on other set of teminals could be well wrong tho???

use www.the12volt.com (http://www.the12volt.com) and it will tell you how to wire series and parallel to get the required load your looking for (Ohms). Just make sure your amp resistance is the same as the way you have wired your sub. For example a double 2ohm voice coiled sub can run as a 1 ohm load and a 4 ohm load, depending on how it is wired. The lower the load, the louder the bass, but the more current the amp will draw off the electrical system :)
