'ello! anyone know or got an idea on how much it would cost to have a new slam panel put in to me nova? rough prices if you can.
does it have to be welded in or can it be rivetted, bolted or sellotaped ? :o
heh.
also, is it common on nova's for the windscreen wiper linkage to dislocate at the balljoint and just generally wear out? just had to shell out ?15 for a second hand one.
cheers!

slam pannel has to be welded in. Not hard to do. Just buy a new one, strip the fron of the car down, cut out the old one and just weld in the new one. Tack it in place first and make sure it is square etc... before welding it all in place. Doesn't need to withstand a nuclear blast. Only really holds the bonnet closed and the rad/headlights/grill in place

As for wiper linkage, only usually gives you problems after you have fiddled with it. There is a nylon slide pin that locks it on the balljoint. If this is fucked there is nothing you can do other than buy a new one. If i had to change one i would buy new cos your just as likely to break the one from the scrappy getting it off
if i do rebuild mine id have 2 do 1 :( ne 1 know a prive for a new 1 (gen vaux)

?150 - ?250
+ paint.
They all come primed but some garages will prob not mention paint and just leave it in the primer. You need to go to a proper bodyshop.

jeez, didn't know so many people had rusty slam panels! cheers for the info guys.
i did see a website with slam panels and others for sale, brand new in primer. i think it was imperial panels or something?
my problem is that i have to use me nova to get to work every day so taking it to a bodyshop or garage might be difficult for me! plus i need to get the arches done and the rest of the engine bay tidied up.
also there's a near enough MINT E reg nova, 1.2 at a garage near me for ?595. reckon i should buy it? it's got surface rust on the passenger door and a two inch dent on the drivers side wing.
