Been looking for an old skool Group A 1300 "Sport" rally car for a while ago now, and bought this little nipper a few weeks ago. :)

It's a genuine early A reg SR, converted into a rally car in the early 90's, but has stood unused with the last owner for 9 years.
It looks a bit of a dog from the outside, the wheels are hanging and it does needs a paint job. But (unusually for a rally car) the shell is really straight and rust free, the preperation is very good, and has plenty of nice bits bolted to it . It will tidy into a really nice car.
SCCR 5 speed, rose jointed tie rods, uniballs, Quaife LSD, 4.5CWP, Bilstein coilovers, GTE brakes,

The office. All nice and period, and everything works (again unusual for a rally car). Perspex windows, fibreglass tailgate & bonnet

Disc'd rear beam, (Golf), Billies,

Pilbeam (works spec) bolt in cage, triangulation to strut tops

1300 motor, worked head, waisted stem valves, solid lifters, uprated cam, Omega pistons, ARP bolts, tubular manifold, bias pedal box

Gen Sport carbs, Irmscher inlet

Got some group A revolutions to go on, and a few other bits coming, can't wait.
Considering it's been stored, it needed virtually nothing to get it sorted and out on the road. I was a bit sceptical that it might feel slow and old after all these years (and I'm used to a fair bit more power these days) but after a couple of shakedown runs followed by a quick sortie down the lanes, it does goes bloody well! Even on knobblies it handles just as well as I remember. It's a scream to drive.
I'm chuffed :)
