Well recently i have had the job of clearing a house, its a rather large house with a rather large amount of belongings inside.

Said belongings look like antiques, and there is alot of varnished furniture, e.g. big dining tables with chairs, massive corner cabinets with glass doors, large wall cabinets.

Also there are alot of vases, some made in macau, hand painted in japan.

So, my point is, does anyone know anything about furniture or vases etc, because im at a loss with what to do with it all!

Ebay is my best bet but then what reserve price do i put on? Ive enquired at auction houses but they charge a minimum of 15% plus a listing charge!!

It was just a thought to ask on here!

I know a little about antiques. Its simple really, if its old, its worth money. Unless it has a GM badge on it....

send it to the local auction house. yes they charge 15% or so, but they will value the stuff properly, and then take care of it properly....

annd one who works for the MOD
Doesn't really mean I know anything about antiques though does it lol

....having said that, our desktop terminals are antiques. Windows NT4 FTL lol

Anyways. Take it to an auction house. Sure you lose 15% +listing fee, but then you're more likely to find specialist bidders who will pay a reasonable price, and get a decent value on items. Some money is better than no money, and the right money is best!

i wasnt talking about you jack, pff, didnt you know james bond himself has just signed up!

lol and no i know it doesnt, i was just highlighting the fact there are a wide range of jobs on here!

Yeah our other apprentice suggested 'cash in the attic' lol, ive also been looking at a few antique appraisal websites, they charge you and dont seem very popular etc, its going to be such a pain in the **** this, i might post up a couple of pics of the house tonight so you can all see how much stuff is in there!
