Hello Lads and Lasses.

Well this is what I'm thinking of organising.

Milton Keynes has an outdoor Go-Karting track with Karts capable of speeds up to 70mph. For more information on the venue go here;

http://www.daytona.co.uk/milton_keynes.htm

Now before I can book the date I need to see a show of hands. What I don't want are people saying "yeah I'll be intrested" this is really serious and needs to be as un-complicated as possible. I also don't want people saying "me and my 4 friends will come". Places will be given to Novaload members first and then if there are still spots to be filled external people will be allowed to come along.

I spoke to Daytona today and they said that I need to put down a 50% deposit in order to book a private session for us all. This will mean we will have the track to ourselves and will be awarded with tropheys (i think) for the top 3 people at the end of the race.

What I don't yet know is how much this is going to cost. It could be from ?30-?60 per person and as of yet I'm not sure what kind of race it is going to be, but more than likely it will be an endurance race where people get practice laps and qualifying laps and then a 30min drive or possibly even an hours drive. It all depends on how many people reply to this post with definate answers that they want to come.

So far the only date i have in my mind is that the event will be organised for a Sunday. If you want to come along but work the weekends then you will have to be prepared to possibly give short notice to your boss that you need the time off.

Payment will need to be sorted out ASAP. Once I get a definate list of people who wish to attend I will then need to speak to Daytona and get a price from them. I might be able to get them to hold the date for us provisionally, but I will need to collect the money ASAP. What I have in mind for payment is you will all have to send your money to me. If any of you are not happy with sending a cheque to someone you might not have met before then DO NOT put your name down. I will be giving you all my home address for you to send your cheques to, so it's not like I'm going to do a runner with your cash.

So far this is as much information as I can give out. Please, please, please, please do not post questions to this topic like "when will it be" as I honestly don't know and won't know until I get a definate list of people who are willing to commit to the day. I'm anticipating that it's going to take a month to get a list of definate answers, then another month to get the money and then I will be able to book the date. It might all sound long winded, but think of it this way...

...You will all have payed for the event and even though it might not be that next weekend, when the time comes you won't have to worry about getting the money together, all you'll have to do is make sure you turn up on time. Unfortuantley I won't be able to refund your cash if you can't make it at the last minute, as Daytona will be expecting the number of people that I tell them are coming and they will not negotiate. Also, I will more than likely have to put a 50% deposit down out of my own money. I know from past experiences that private events can cost well over ?1000, so please try and think of poor little me who's trying to organise this.

Again, please only reply to this post if you can;

a) be preared to spend up to ?60 or even more

b) be prepared to take a last minute holiday from work

c) turn up on the day and on time

I really want this to work and I think it could make out for an amazing day and good start to the year. Once the Karting has finished we can look at parking up somewhere and chat about the days event.

These are the very early stages, so please bear with me. It's a hell of alot to organise and if you guys can reply ASAP it'll help me out loads.

Cheers lads

Jim,
Count me in for it!

Guys, as Jim says, it's very important that you only reply if you can come along on the day and will pay the money. Jim has organised a fair few meets for novaload, and all have gone really well, so I have no doubt this will be the same. Also, remember guys, the quicker we get this bit done the quicker Jim can finalise dates and payment details and we can get this moving!

Jim - count me in mate.
Let me know when you want the money sending and i will send it.

After the success of the MK meet on December 1st I can see that this should be excellent...

Not sure my left wrist will hold out for an hour of Karting as its got a plate holding it together, but worth a go I reckon.

I am DEFINATELY up for it.

Mike,
We think we need at least 30 people to hire the place to have it to 'ourselves'. But Jim needs to get a rough idea of numbers before we can confirm that, so the sooner people reply to this the better! 8)
Once we have a rough number Jim can find out price per person, date, and if we get the place to ourselves or not.

?60 :o

hmmm
lot more than ive paid b4....

Im interested, but ?60 plus petrol to get there and back etc...lot of ?. Not that i cant afford it...but still....

Not sure if he endurance things a good idea- ones ive organised b4 with heats, then quarter semi and finals and tropheys have worked well. But you get less driving.
Swings and roundabouts etc.

Im interested, ill say 100% yes or no when you give me a price for the day.

(not wanting to sound miserable etc, just looking at the practicalitys)

a) be preared to spend up to ?60 or even more -see above

b) be prepared to take a last minute holiday from work -no problem i dj at night so daytimes on sundays would be no problem.

c) turn up on the day and on time- yep no problem. Once i say i will be there im there.

Come on peeps-could be a laff.

Update:

I have just been on the phone to the sales team at Daytona. For us to be able to book out the track to ourselves it will cost us ?1000 and we will need a minimum of 20 drivers. This works out at a maximum price of ?50 per driver.

I was hoping we could get over 30 people as the more people we have, the cheaper it gets.

The event will be a Mini-Endurance where we have teams of 2 drivers driving for 30mins each. We will get practice laps before hand, which i think count as qualifying for grid position.

Providing we can get 20 people or more to sign up I will then be able to book the date. I will make sure I tell you all 4 weeks before the date so that you can book the time of at work if necessary.

The price of ?50 per person is the maximum we will pay, as they have group discounts and special offers throughout the year. I will let you all know what discounts they offer once I have confirmation that 20 or more people will definatley be able to come.

If you read this message, but wern't keen because of the price and didn't reply, then have another think now that I've put down the maximum that it will cost.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, remember Wales, if Breeny was to come to this, he would get lost on the way round the track and we would lap him!!!!

The accelerator pedal was stuck on and the brake didnt work!!

I will need a definate date for this to make sure i'm not working.

Jim

I can't give a definate date until i get 20 people saying they can make it. All I can say is I will try and organise it for a Sunday. I'm not sure what time it'll be, but I will try and organise it for early to mid afternoon.

I need to put a 50% deposit down in order to book the date. So I am relying on you guys to get back to me ASAP. Once I have 20 people signed up I will then need you all to send me your money so that I can put the deposit down.

If we get more than 20 people signing up (which looks doubtful at the minute :( ) then I will get a figure and refund the amount to those that paid more.

Come on guys, I was hoping to get a better response than this :( I thought we all wanted to show each other who the better driver was? Isn't this the perfect way of finding out who's the best? ;)

Wish we could do it in Manchester's Daytona coz less driving for me but realise as your setting it up it's upto you where its held and seen as MK is the modding capital of England then it seems fit that the Novaload guys meet there.......

How long from sheffield do you reckon it'll take at steady speed.(no f*ckin about at 110 in a pig magnet)

Plus i aint havin a crash as i'm bucked in to spend over ?2000 at John Bees this month.

Hope you can get it sorted then just tell me when and how much to send.

When I drive upto Manchester from MK, it usually takes me around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and also not speeding atall!

Ian
21-01-03, 01:55 PM
thats kevs fault then lol, i found it searching on author slimjim

jkhilton
21-01-03, 01:57 PM
maybe the search button needs checking out, I tried slimjim and it doesn't come up with anything either :?

Ian
21-01-03, 02:07 PM
lol did you actually put slimjim in the author section or the search section? works fine here

Jim
21-01-03, 02:13 PM
The search function didn't work for me either.

Either way Ian, why did you take it off Sticky? You kept the calender on Sticky. Just because you wern't intrested in the Karting doesn't mean that no one else is. All you have done is moan about the karting post, even when I tried to have a private chat with you, you still threw it back in my face, I'm not sure what your problem is :?

Ste said he was up for the Karting, I'm sure you, ste and perhaps even Kev could have all driven down in the one car?

I was trying to organise an event that I thought the majority of people would be up for, yourself in particular as you always seem keen to show off your driving skills.

I wasn't having a go with anyone in the other post, I was upset that it had been moved, deleted, taken of sticky, whatever. I know your admin Ian and it's your job to keep the forums clean and clear, but there are countless other useless, meaningless posts that go on this board, I didn't want the Karting post to be lost amongst the rest which is why I asked you to make it Sticky in the first place.

I used the search button on the top of the forum listing, not the one near to the albums button.
