Dodgy oil presure gauge

My oil presure gauge has started flickering and going right off the scale. What would be the likely cause of this?

sounds like it is covered in sh1te on the sender & shorting out, give it a clean up & a bit of wd40. if it still does it, then check every other connection. is the light flickering too?

No, the light doesn't flicker on. The needle has always sat between 1/2 and 3/4 on ilde and goes to max when driving. Now when it get to max it starts to flicker and goes off the scale! Where is the sender on a C20XE?

just beside the oil filter.

Hummm,? this could be linked to the oil thats leaking from round that area down the filter????
