modified an air filter to fit on carb, had to cut top of to make it shorter so the bonnet will still close. will eventually cut holes in bonnet to let air in, but can't decide what shape. Any ideas?

i have bought some 6 dial clocks out of a GSI, when i tried to fit them the electric plug is to small for the terminal on the clocks. does anyone know what i can do without buying a set of GTE clocks, and are the SR clocks 6 dial?

gsi is mk.2. mk.1 and mk.2 clocks wont interchange, the dash space and mountings are different and the wiring connectors at the back have a different amount of pins.

without buying gte clocks i suppose you could replace your dash for a mk.2 unit and do some rewiring for the new connector, but that would be alot of hassles and cost u more anyhow.

ive ordered some dtm backboxes (2) and bought 2 2m lengths of exhaust pipe (1-3/4"). if you go back a few pages you will see my custum manifold, this is where i will take the exhaust up the car as seperate pipes then have them go to the 2 backboxes on each side of the car at the back.

:thumb: I HAVE JUST GOT A gsi ENGINE PLUS FULL MAGNEX STAINLESS EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR £90. BARGIN IN MY EYES, IT HAS ecu AND LOOM ASWELL AND THE DOWNPIPE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME I CAN USE MY 1.2 DRIVE SHAFTS IN THE F13 gsi BOX AND EVERY THING WILL BE OK :)

there is 2 more plates that weld to the chassis at the rear which were not welded on they will be done when the wheel well gets cut out.
Bud also welded some stich welds around the engine bay, i went round with the flapper wheel and cleaned everything up and gave everything a quick sand down apart from bulk head. I also treated where rust was starting with K-RUST and then Red Stripe Seam Sealer on all welds and seams and hopefully this will be enough to prevent rust for a while.

in the morning i will be flating down bay ready for primer and paint except bulk head this will be done when i get the turbo built (long time) i will be stripping it all down and full respray. but in meantime this is what im doing. i am open to all comments as i am a young learner and am interested in what people think of work so far

8 valve turbo i already have a garret T3/T4 turbo im hoping i will beable to graft in and it will spool up fast enough. i am unsure how it all will work as i have not enough knowledge in turbos, im hopeing i dont have to do much when it comes to the wireing side of things and ECU issues which i have been told i might have problems with like fueling. any advice would be appreciated.

got up this morning and weather was nice so i cracked on flating and masking then it rained so i hade to cover bay with plastic sheet and stop. then rain stoped and it was sunny and warm!!! this happened 3 times today!!! but managed to get the job done with help from Bud on the engine side of things.

I was suprised how good the paint was from an areosol tim matched at haldords i have decided to spray the roof and new wing aswell just to smarten the car up again as it will be awhile till respray Ran out of paint thats why strut tops are not completly finished, i knew i would run out thats why i left top as i can finish it off with engine in.

Fitted Bumper and lights with new clear indicators. my dog chewed n/s corner of bumper while it was in garden and its not repairable so im after a new bumper! thinking same 1 any sujestions? next job is either in the arches + inner arches cleaned and under sealed or the wheel well and last of strength kit, the tank will need to come off and restored and rear will also be under sealed

8 valve turbo i already have a garret T3/T4 turbo im hoping i will beable to graft in and it will spool up fast enough. i am unsure how it all will work as i have not enough knowledge in turbos, im hopeing i dont have to do much when it comes to the wireing side of things and ECU issues which i have been told i might have problems with like fueling. any advice would be appreciated.

I noticed that someone had used a T3/T4 Garratt turbo on a 2.0 8valve astra mk3 on the vaux-extreme site, so im gonna look more into that and try and find the 2 nova's.
The primer dried really quick when i did the bay so i was able to paint it, which also went touch dry faster than expected. When i put engine in it lowered in without touching anything which was good. I only bolted engine in place, i havent done any wireing as i am getting a friend of a friend to do it, as i want the early 6 dials wired in at same time i have the clip to go with them aswell thanks to Gaz on here.

well as my girl friend is pregnant she has told me to sell the nova as it wont be finished in time and to buy a car that looks ok and works lol that is what she told me - so i did but it hasent arrived yet so you cant see it yet sorry.

I have been trying to sell the nova for about a week now and had no interest till earlier today. I got a call from a lad in carlisle who is coming up on Sat to take her away (very upsetting) so that is the end of that really.

RIGHT CARRY ON OVER PAST WEEK AND HALF.
Basically i am going to finish off the Nova as i cant leave her like this and only doing a half job lol. I have around 7 months to finish her and i know i can do it. hopefully will be sprayed aswell.

My MOT runs out a month after my TAX so i'll TAX it for a year so all i need to do when road worthy is an MOT lol

Plan is:

Get engine wired in and Old 6 dial clocks - need GSI tank and fuel pump.
Weld plates in boot floor, N/S rear inner arch and N/S front inner arch.
Seam seal welds and prime and underseal front + rear inner arches.
Decide which boot lid to fix and use
Fit the exhaust.
Paint wheels and get new tyres.
Paint and fit Gmax Shocks
Buy 60mm lowering springs as mine are standard ones cut down lol
New disks and pads.
Front wheel bearing.
service engine Timing belt and water pump aswell
MOT
Paint job

I managed to get a set a while back just need to finish painting them unsure on a colour though.

I think no 2 is going to look the best on your car with it being that colour.

white will look good though if you use some 195 40 15

I think i will paint 1 white and 1 black with silver rim and see what it looks like on car jacked up with no tyres first.

right little update at the min got loads that i can do now with nova as loads of parts have arrived but im in the middle of prepping buds chevette for painting so going between both as loads of his parts came aswell lol. manged a few things tho got the gears all hooked up and the clutch. Got the bonnet catch completly removed ready for the pins, and stripped down my GSI tailgate ready to be flatted and wiper hole plated and smoothed then will be ready to paint and replace. got rear heated window out first time on my own which i think is good as people say its a nightmare??
oh and also tried my new rims on and replaced my steelies as bud gave me his old chevette wheels all with MINT tyres as mine have flat sh*t tyres. left rear on axel stands so i can get tank off in morning.

removed my tank this morning, a;so recived my gsi rediator - i had to unscrew and swop over the eletric clip as they had different fittings so i put the one from 1.2 onto the gsi rad. Quick question will it be ok to use the fan from 1.2 rad with gsi enging and rad? i am waiting on some core plugs and throttle cabe so in the mean time im going to paint the GSI tank before fitting. will be fitting bonnet pins in morning before work so will take some pics.

this friday at 12 i was down scrap yard getting a couple bits off the nova there :P

cant remember where i was last friday but ill only of been walking around the car shop for some nuts and bolts or something, im in the garage all day every day lol

ive got me quarter welded on mate and no more welding to do now just repair a few dents and primer it for paint.

but i might be taking it to a garage down the street and using all there stuff to spray it with a mate who started working there, your still more than welcome to come down and help.

once ive got the car ready were going to wait until the night and ill drive the car round the garage in primer and we will strip it and mask it all up and spray it, then next morning flatten and polish it all then rebuild it and drive it back around.

Gonna do it white with either black or dark grey bumpers, white grille and black along the bottom of the car and i got some bumpstrips that im going to clean up and put a red stripe on to match the red striped on the bumper.

well anyway, let me know how much the vinyls are that go around the door pillar things cos i might use them, im starting to change my mind about black bottom of car, i might just do it all white and put gsi skirts on.

car should be ready for paint soon, once its done im going to filler primer it all, and your supposed to flatten it with 600, some people use 800. well im going to flatten the primer down with 1000 lol ill make sure this is the best paintjob ever :thumb:

i want to take all the windows out except the windscreen, when i paint the car but i dont know how to put them back in, know anybody ?

also we asked the guy who owns the garage and he said he will lend us his garage for the night aslong as we paint the walls for him lol but we plan on painting the car and then my mate who works for him is just going to quit, or so he says lol.
