opinions? :wtf:

in the past 2 days iv had my E30 out iv had 2 offers when its not even for sale. iv told them what i would want for it when im ready to sell and theyve both said theyl give me that. dont really want to sell it as its cool as fcuk imo and i love it, however just had a quick browse to see what:wtf: i could swap it for

8 series are becoming very cheap now. anybody had any experience with them? not bothered if its the 840 or 850 tbh

was looking at a standard one local to me but spotted this on PH...

my mate said his brother used to have one and never shuts up about it, iv never been in one but can imagine them being such a comfy cruiser. im aware itl cost a lot to run and fix if it goes wrong, but hopefully it wont break on me Lol.

what do you think of them? jsut a thought at the moment, wanted to drive the e30 for the summer and enjoy it but its tempting to sell

theyre just as rare as an E30 i reckon. i think il go have a look at the one near me sometime this week. i might measure it to see if itl fit down my drive lol

thats the main thing, im wanting a rare car and something a bit different and special. i hardly ever drive it so not at all bothered about how much itl cost to run, and im on trade so insurance isnt an issue. just want something that will come out on a sunny day and people respect it. il more than likely keep the E30, the longer i have it the more its going to be worth. and i know once the sun comes im going to love it, especially with the roof down  :thumb:

im still waiting for a sunny day so i can polish it and drive it to a decent location for proper pics. some people dont understand the car and cos its so old they call it a shed, but it really is a nice example and with it being so low i get some attention driving it Lol

Tough call, the 8 series will be more expensive to keep, but will probably gain in value over time, i've always had a soft spot for the e30 drop tops, but you do look a bit essex boy in one. still, one of the few convertables you can drive as a man!!!

They look nice they do, but what would parts be like to get? as i thought they was pretty damn rare, and if it did go wrong it could be pretty costly.

mate ure e30 looks awesome, as does that 8series. both are def cool as **** in different ways, e30 looks gangster and 8 series bit more mature.

either way ure onto a winner and i will be eternally jealous lol

p.s. you seen the one make GT series they did with the 8 series in the 80's? they look mint aswell, maybe give you some inspiration?

e30 cabby all day everyday , that looks like a serious headturner, although its a bit more common than the 8 series i still think that u will get a lot more attention in it, IMO the 8 series is a bit of a buisness man gone bust sort of car, dont sell it

thanks for the comments and advice, think iv gone off the idea now lol iv always liked the 8 series but as you say, it wont be as much of a headturner, and to make it stand out i will be spending a lot of money on it.

i did over 100 miles in the cab today and i loved every second in it. i cant sell it! and especially cant sell it before summer as i need to enjoy it more.

i do still fancy a big car that is 'cool', but looks like il leave it until another time. im still wanting an SL500 like i said a few months ago, but il have to sell 2 cars to get one of them. eitherway im sure il be buying and selling a few more cars this year so its all good :)

I work at a bmw dealership and we have had a couple of 8 series in the workshop and tbh they are a big comfy car but by all accounts are pants to drive and you need to leave a 10 mile stopping distance at any speed over 20mph haha as the cars are so big and daft and the brakes are ***** lol

E30 all the way mate,I love that car!

I remember when there was only 2 850s in Ireland. That one is nice but loose the Reiger wanna be front end, the unorigional badges and put a decent set of wheels on. That looks like it should have Black windows and a Gold grill and have 5 Gold clad *edit* men hanging out of it.

iv never driven one andy but can imagine them being pretty sh1te tbh. and i seriously think it wudnt get down my drive as its very tight at the top.

and lol dod, you're right. that pic was only an example really.

i bet an 8 series isnt as nippy (round town, nimble) as the e30.. and much more thirsty, pricey to own.. not worth the extra..

tho it would turn heads, very different/ rare..

Quite odd this should crop up, I saw one this morning with some M kit on it (spoiler, mirrors etc) and the plate m8 ***.
Ive always liked them, but always thought they would be a bit lardy.

Shame the E30 is a cabby. If it were a tintop I'd keep it but IMO they just look like a pram with the roof folded down.

Go for the 8 IMO.

But I funkin hate BM's anyway.

L33 LEG
04-03-09, 03:30 PM
a pram lol i can sort of see what you mean.

i doubt il actually go for an 8 series, but was/am thinking of selling the E30 for something else just as rare or different.

peester - its only a 320 and its slow as hell, but i didnt get it for speed at all and it doesnt bother me one bit. im a very slow and careful driver, when im in the mood to drive fast il just take the nova out :)

il more than likely just keep the E30. if i eventually find something that i really fancy owning then il sell it

Worst case of a pram is the mk1 Golf convertible.....

L33 LEG
04-03-09, 03:36 PM
ye i agree, any cab which the roof just rests on the back looks like a pram, but on the E30 they are hidden

A friend of mine is a BMW boffin, and was almost selected for an apprenticeship with BMW as some kinda fancy technician.

He weighed up the 840/300zx/3000 GT when he wanted a big fast cruiser. In the end he got a 300zx.

His main arguing point was that EVERYONE during his BMW apprenticeship told him to stay away from the 8 series.

imo, you havent been in a decent example. Next to GM, BMWs are a love of mine, having numerious 3 and 5 series and at the moment, an E39 5er which is due some massive renovation. They are great cars as long as they've been looked after.
