Well as a few of you know I'm having trouble getting my c16xe running right.
I have spark and fuel but every time I crank it over to start it just pops bangs and cuts out.
I have put extra earths on the engine bay (4 infact). Also put the fuel pump up to a constant feed to see if there were problems with the pump, but still the same!
I have this spare wire still hanging about but cannot seem to find where the hell it goes. A few off here have said it could be the tps/icv but it isn't that because the 3 pin I have left over is round but the tps/icv slot is oval

If any one has any more suggestion it would be great :thumb: or if anyone fancys finishing the job and getting the damn thing running then extreme beer tokens :D
that cant be your throttle bodie a that looks electronic, "fly-by-wire"

I have a x16xe throttlebody and inlet attached to the c16xe. I take it they are different then? Picture nicked from a eGay item. Mine is still on the car though.

Oh also I have done a flash code check and it only came up with number 12 but that's the start sequence number.
this is the sort of TB you should have

notice the tps is 3 pin!!! how have you even got your throttle cable connected??
also you just took those two pics from ebay!!!! never beleave anyone on ebay. have you not seen you can get airbags and abs sensors for novas according to ebay!!

Cheers for the picture Burgo. I take it's a C16xe throttlebody then :thumb: That's what I needed and would explain why everyone keeps saying TPS then :tard: = me lol
Well mine is the same as the one from ebay. So what would that be used for then :confused::confused:
as i said its electronic so i aint got a clue. where have you connected your throttle cable??

As it would on the picture you provided :(
The guy I bought the engine from was originally going to be running twin 40's so would the throttlebody maybe have been different for that setup.
if he was going to be running twin 40's he wouldnt have needed a TB hence it didnt matter what sort it was
He wouldnt need a throttle body for twin 40s?
edit, too slow

My question = major FAIL :wtf: lol
So basically I need a c16xe throttlebody after all this madness?

Yours running yet ;)
yep thats assuming the inlets the same. might be worth getting a c16xe/normal x16xe complete inlet so that you know you have all the right sensors with the right plugs for the management youve got lol

C16xe engine wiring and ECU.
X16xe throttle body and inlet.
try emailing this fella as he says he has most other engine parts

C16xe engine wiring and ECU.
X16xe throttle body and inlet.thats the thing. ive never seen an x16xe with that TB.

Emailed the eGay guy :thumb:
Z16xe as in the Astra one?
My god; my car is turning into fecking Frankenstein. lol
Yours running yet ;)
lol i have more chance of landing on the moon lol
Its Still the same, waiting on another ECU.....
Just to check with yours, does the plugs on the ecu match the loom ecu plugs (tis prob with mine)

Everything else on mine is working and connected. Just the throttlebody is the balls up. Problem when you get parts given to you free I suppose lol
Would have thought it would bring up a ECU light but meh.

Well I would have thought that myself bearing in mind it wasn't plugged in
not till it runs matey...

just to let you know, the c16xe and x16xe have the same TB's with the same sensors
i fitted c16xe management to my x16xe, all i had to change was the knock sensor, ecu water temp, o2 sensor, on because the plug were diff :)

Right as I had put this post up my mate has since put a x16xe throttle body on which has the tps :)
Turned it over and ...
... Still the same, so tried flash codes again and it's now coming up with a 93 code. I'm pretty sure this is the finishing code??? Anyone help
Is the way to reset the ecu's on these engines by unconnecting the battery and turning the ignition on and off 3 times?
General Baxter

where about in West Yorkshire are you?
mine has its mot next week, and fancy a road trip :)
Reset what? i belive you clear the codes by leaving the battery unpluged for a while.
General Baxter

i left mine for approx 20mins, and the codes cleared
code 93 is the quad drive modual

Nice one Baxter :D I live in Keighley. What's your prefered beverage lol
It must have been a different car I was thinking of then when resetting the ecu .
Southie

code 93 is the quad drive modual
Just looked on topbuzz and your right but it has n/a after it
apparently the duad drive modual controls a number of things and its usually one of these at fault and not the actual modual
quad drive module is part of the ecu. so if this is the only fault codes you are getting then more than likely u need a new ecu...
Earth problems can give quad module fault
thinking about it actually, this is exactly the same symptoms BIGS had with his car and it was 100% the ecu. if i remember correctly his had the same fault code come up (as well as others but i knew about them lol)
ive been googling it and came up with possibles
egr valve
lambda sensor
knock sensor
engine management light bulb
earths

He hasn't got the egr valve anymore, put on a 4branch manifold, would this cause the problem
Southie

As Chris said I no longer have egr so a possibility
Which earths give the most earthing then? I've got them all over the place!
Hopefully it's the bulb because if it's the ecu I'm going to go stir crazy
If anyone has a working c16xe ecu pm me
Thank you to all with your thoughts on this. It's really good of you :thumb:
well it said its a sticky egr that causes the problem but if you havnt got it at all that cant be the case. you dont have to blank anything off on the 16v's like you do the 8v's do you?? also i assume its the ecu earths

the quad drive also drives the air injection pump motor. if you have removed this as well its likely the output is open circuit and reporting a fault.
if you have removed the SOVs for the heater matrix valve and the air injection actuator (on the exhaust manifold) then the ECU will report a code.

I've got hold of someone who is breaking a Corsa GSI.
What would be best to get off him to get mine running then. Should I get the ecu :(
Is it worth blanking off the EGR at the back of the engine then?
Meritlover thanks also, now I am completley baffled
if its c16xe it wont have any egr or air injection system at all to start with.
Southie
04-03-09, 10:40 AM
Cheers CK that's the EGR stuff out of the equation :D Had thought this but didn't suggest it. I thought it was only the X16xe that came with it.
Right so do I get hold of another ECU or just hope mine is okay and keep checking and checking the earths at the wiring end of the ECU
Is there anything else I should be salvaging from this other GSI then?
Try and borrow a ECU like me lol
And erm, didnt i say ECU AGES ago? :D Im too good lol

Yes you did mention the ECU ages ago, as well as a few other things ;) I just didn't want to go out and get another one before exploring all avenues :p
I didn't really want to just "borrow" a ECU. Just my look to blow it up and still have to get another :(

?????
Is this not what everyone was on about regarding the EGR (which I don't have) CLICKY??? (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114780&page=2&highlight=x14xe)
so you havnt blanked that off?? as i know with the 8v's if you dont blank that off they suck in sheet loads of air and dont run right. so it might be the same with the 16v's

havent blanked what off? lol. if its egr/sai then the c16xe does not have any of this at all to start with so nothing to blank off.
if you put a x16xe inlet on then put a egr blanking plate in between the inlet/egr wont connect as it c16xe loom doesnt have the connector for any of it)
if i remember correctly the earths on a c16xe loom will be on left side of inle (alternator bracket) and then on the right hand side of the inlet (nr trottle body) dont think there is any more from engine loom. i always put a couple extra on to be on the safe side. i.e one from battery to alternator, battery to block and battery to chassis. they all help

All the original nova earths are attached and 4 new ones have been attached, as well as the ones that the corsa needed, so a abundence of them really
Well off to get a new ECU tonight and give that a try. If it's still doing the same then foooook knows :( :( :(

i thought it was an x16 with a c16 loom. therefore it will need blanking off
