tis a shame those "wide arches" are so crude. you gonna try and do something with them as ultimatly i think that what will let a cracking little car down

as long as the shell is clean - thats a good price.

However, those rear arches are the WORST I have ever seen - are they fiberglass???

It sure is! fully seam welded and rot free, cleanest nova i have seen put it that way!
They are welded to the car and will stay on for now as too much to do. When I do cut them off I will put you down for 1st dibbs as I know you want them!!

lol

Some progress pictures

The cosra about to get eaten by the nova

Shortly after....

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/09032009150.jpg

Had to create a front mount for the corsa engine, so i cut the bracket off the corsa and adapted it for the nova and welded it on.

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/21032009163.jpg

nice fit

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/21032009162.jpg

I have took the wiring loom out of the corsa and I am in the process of putting it in the nova, I have also started to get the corsa dash to fit in the nova, pics to follow....

Read the spec of the nova, e.g fully seam welded
Plus I love novas!

Why fit the 1lt 12v? Its a crap engine that has a bad idle.

Rick C

more bhp over a standard 1.0L Nova the 1.0l rally class i will be in does not allow engine mods.
Runs sweet to me! if i wanted a decent engine i would drive my BMW E46 330 Ci ! lol :)
This is a budget project to compete in a budget rally class

/\ They idle fine mate, it's just that obviously they are 3 cylinder so they sound like crap ! even things like the new Toyota Aygos which are 3 cylinder sound like complete sh*t !! but yeh i do agree that the vauxhall 3 cylinder is a bad engine !! as theyre very problematic regarding the timing chain and they dont seem to like to rev. Now on topic, this sounds like a interesting little project mate, so it just has to have a 1.0 engine and be standard yeh ? why not use something like an Yamaha R1 engine ? looks like a reasonably clean shell on the whole tho, loving the wheel arches !! lol best of luck with the build tho mate !

its all to do with the f1000 regs in terms of the engine, which i fully appreciate.

and i know the nova is seam welded but theres plenty cheap corsas out there in that spec too...

either way, keep going with it and i hope you get it all sorted out and running soon(er than mine will ever be built!)

Corsa weighs more pal plus I wanted another nova as I have had 3 in my younger days (still have spares!), know them inside out and love em!
Plus can you can get a corsa fully seam welded with a msa log book incuding a spares package? I think not lol its all about the budget and I am sticking to it ;) so far i have spent £865 but I have sold £250 in spares from the cat d corsa i bought so I have really only spent £615 !

Plus I am enjoying building this project. :thumb:

The engine has to be from the same type of car mate, hence the corsa engine has the most BHP as standard from the corsa/ nova model. You can not make any engine mods in the class i am in.

Looks a good build mate. I was actually looking at buying that shell as a spare for my rally car! Ive always fancied doing formula 1000. Proper friendly bunch plus plenty of good fun

Update:

Got the engine in now and holding its own weight.

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/10042009177.jpg

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/19042009177.jpgRemoved the dash out of the Corsa and cut to fit the Nova. Removed the dash mounting brackets from the Corsa and modified to fit the Nova and welded into place.

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/19042009179.jpg

Then I mounted the dash, looks quality!

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/19042009180.jpg

Removed the power steering from the Corsa and the mounting bracket.
Cut the bracket down and managed to retain the 2 lower mounting bolts. I have these going through the bulk head. The bulk head is in the process of being strengthened to take the weight. The bracket just needs welding at the top to finished (the feeder on my welder broke)
Kept installing and removing the dash so it fits nice (just like in the corsa lol!)

http://www.dubhosting.com/rally/19042009182.jpg

Going to flock the dash and install an aluminium plate in the middle for engine cut off switches etc...
Next the wiring loom goes in!
