thought i would share some pics with you lot..

we headed to a gravel autotest 2 weekend ago for a run out in the cars, this was the first event for my mates nova rally car. he has just finished building it.

i had such a bad result, simply because my car was a nightmare to drive in the autotest (LSD, no power steering, bias pedal box, handbrake not working very great)..

not to worry though, the car was not built for autotests, that is what my last nova was built for!:thumb:

Then last weekend we were up at Kames Circuit doing a rally test day..

This was more suited to me and my car.. i was setting some very good times imo..had 25-30 rally cars to compete with inluding 2.0 mk2 escorts, c2 r2, 2.0 16v corsa and astra, another suzuki powered nova, 205 gti's, v6 sierra ect ect..

the fastest time of the day was set at 1min 15secs, i was getting 1min 18's and 19's so i was really pleased with that..for a 100bhp 1300 nova with standard gearing and 15'' wheels i think that is fairly good. cant wait to get 14's and a better gearbox.

everything didnt all go well though as i stuffed it on my 4th run.. came too fast into a corner, went sideways, lost backend, got it back, thought we were all sorted then i dont know what happened but i was heading off the road and into tyres. damaged front bumper, headlight and the wing was all pushed out. nothing a hammer and my foot didnt sort though. also ripped the sidewall in one of my brand new tarmac tyres open, so i was gutted about that.

vaughan was up watching, he might have a video..no doubt he will come on here and say something about what he thought of our novas up at kames.

Theyre smart - we'll need to get a scottish meet organised and come and watch you do a stage or 2...should speak to Vaughan and let him know whats up and coming...

(you sent them seats yet - lol)

Yours looks a nice car Greg, some nice bits on it too (proflex, 4 pots etc). Like you I started as a lad in rallying with Nova's, long time ago though...

Would recommend a SCCR box and 4.5 CWP though. Would make a real of a difference to your times. Had a look at your videos, and the rev drop between 2nd and 3rd is costing you a lot of time, the motor is coming off the cam.

One problem with rallying: there's always something to spend on. :)

Thanks for your comments..

Olly, thanks..but you are correct the things letting the car down really is a decent set of wheels and a sccr gearbox..i am on the look out for a gearbox but i am running rather short of meny just now..

i was thinking about fittinga 4.8 cwp and on some of the faster rallies (i.e jim clark, mull) i could step upto 15inch wheels to give a bit more speed.

what do you think?
