Bought this of Ernie too reshell (someday) wondering should the car have orange inserts in the door and bumper mouldings? Can anyone give me links to the production changes of the era, like trim details, shell mods etc

It should have the orange/yellow stripe in the bumper like all early SR's IIRC...

When did ernie have that? as vaughan said it should be orange inserts, and should also have the grey interior. Looks pretty clean, why the re-shell?

It's 1986 with the brown dash board/interior which I think's correct for the era, the shell has a sunroof which has rotted, just as handy to reshell, quicker and makes a better car.

Know this is the moulding tye it needs but this car is 83

DOes the 86 shell have the smaller door handles and brown tinted windows?

Did a Sport have Brown tints?

Also does the inner wings differ to the later or Mk2 shells

sport had clear glass as for the door moldings they are the same as the red one just fadded lol.

Your car is pretty much as it should be. Ive been though some early 80's brouchues and yours is fine.The red strip round the bumpers is correct for that car, your indicators should be orange.IIRC the inner wings arent different

Actually the red strips on the bumper came on the later sr's, snowplough sr's have the orange strip.

Still cant understand why its being re-shelled because the sunroof is rotten, surely it can be saved?

If I can find a mint MK1 shell I'll rebuild it into that, it's cheaper to buy a mint car rather than pay to repair the old shell, wondering does anyone have a mint drivers seat to suit her?

well its on the road eh lol

if your re shelling it are you just going to change the chassis number on the log book or change the vin plate and chassis number over from the sr to the new shell??

mk1 inner wings are different, theres a line in them near the turret. its correct for the year as my mates mums was exactly the same, and its reg was very similar.

Not really a 1984 1.2L 3 door in the same colour as John H's/Adams one, and an 89 2 door saloon.:thumb:

It's Novas we're talikng about here - there won't be much metal left on them now, so I doubt it would be too successful!!!!!lol
