View Full Version : Outer CV's
Are all smallblock outer CV's the same? At least one and i suspect both of mine are shot, and the student loan just came in so they're getting replaced lol It's for a 1.2i, soon(ish) to be a 1.6.
I know I can use the same shafts for the 1.6 so by extension the outer CV's should also work/be the same, but did the GSi have a different spline pattern at the hub? As these are the cheapest outer CV's I can find. Cheers :thumb:

All nova outer CVs and hubs are the same, 28 spline iirc.
After reading that I thought it was a little odd as the CV I was reading about I was sure said 22 spline, which did sound familiar, so I looked around a few on ebay, one for 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 Novas came up as 28 spline, so it seems 1.6 Novas are 22 spline on the hub end at the shaft, and 1.0, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 are 28 spline on the hub end at the shaft, anyone care to confirm?

Some 1.6's are 22 spline on the inner end (not all). Outer Cv's are all same for smallblock purposes.
Ah ok, was looking at some inners then obviously, cheers :)

as your a student m8.. to save time and money, u could probably find a set of 1.2/1.4 shafts down your local scrappy or a breaking nova for a tenner ish, saves messing about with circlips and grease and those dreadfull boot securing clips.

where abouts in reading are you ? im not too far, might possibly be able to get you some
Tbh taf you could do that and still have the same problem (split CV boot or a funked CV) and new will last longer.
As above, new ones were only about £30, and have a 2 year/12,000 mile guarantee if they do go on me. Not in reading at the moment as i'm up at uni, but home is east of reading, woodley area :)
