Ignition Wire

I need some help finding a wire behind the dash. I need to find the wire that goes from the ignition barrel to the coil. I think it is a thin black wire but i really cant find it. I resorted to cutting each black wire in the loom behind the glove box in turn until the engine stopped but it never did. Where does it go?

well can't you just take the steering column surround off and look what black wire comes from the ignition barrel??? :? or have i totally misunderstood what u were saying??

i know that a small black wire comes out of the barrel but i need to find it behind the glove box (cant say why but you'll prob guess). What are all the other little black wires for?

black wires behind there are for things like the lamp in the glovebox and the switch etc

best thing to do is run the imobiliser wires up and under and out where the loom comes - wrap wire with loom, and i went about half way down the loom on the passenger side - theres not as many black wires there ;)

where the main loom goes up and out the bulkhead into the engine bay

take you imobiliser wires half way down on the passenger side wing - less wires to choose from as no cockpit wires there

my imobiliser wires cut off three circuits - so i did a black one which is the coil, a green one which knocks off impulse between dizzy and coil - so no spark and third to the starter motor

all of the wires on my imobiliser were black

so EVEN if you dont make a good job of hiding the wires coming through the bulkhead (i took mine through where the rear water pipe goes! as i couldnt get the main loom gromit off!) the thief has 6 wires he has to find the combination too - and then not forgetting finding the kill switch you have hidden but is on the same three wires ;)

i taped my wires together to make them look like a mini loom, and joined them into the big loom (like a letter Y) and taped it all together so it didnt look that bad - put a new round flat gromit in instead of the dodgy shaped one there now for the pipe.

i have it yet to fit to my new car :oops:

but that is in addition to all of the secuirty all ready installed 8)
