hmmmm, i would replace loom for a nice tidy job. or just go untangle all the wires, and go back to befor where they were connected and then you should be left with wires, once you have these, you should hopefully get a plug with the new clocks then it should be straight wire for wire.
you will also need to take out the tranducer and wiring and replace with a speedo cable

Depends how it was done. if it was spliced then you will need to just remove the digi dash plugs.

Otherwise if the old plug was cut right off you will have to just cut the old digi dash plugs off and put on the new GSI ones.

Edit. slow to type and had a call. The mk1 plug WONT fit the GSI clocks. But the colours should match.

seen as the digi dash wiring 90% matches the nova id say the gsi will be even closer.

mmm i doubt it. because you have a mk1, with i presume a mk1 wiring loom and then digi dash, and then you totally remove the digi from the equation and then you left with a mk1 loom and a mk2 gsi clock.
is a guide in the how to part of the forum with a guide im sure.

The mk1 will have a couple of wires different to the MK2.

Get both in front of you and go from there.
