i was sat in college yesterday and a kid was saying how his dad used to
compress a spring to the desired height and weld a plate onto two of the coils on a spring together to make it lower
like so...

No, don't do this, ever.

Ditto.

Ive cosidered it, and decided against it after realising id die.

Driving along and the weld breaks - dead.

Buy lowering springs.

iv seen it done on a cavalier, take standard spring cut in the middle, wind it down so 1ring in the middle is doubled and weld it together. lower and stiffer:thumb:

Regardless. It was a fcuking stupid idea. Would you really want to spend your dying moments in a £100 scrap heap special becuase you though it was an amazing idea to bodge a suspension drop?

Yeah, didnt think so.

No excuse. If you knew anything about anykind of motorsport, you'd know that driver/co-driver safety is of upmost importance.

Regardless, your still a tool for doing it :)

Regardless, your still a tool for doing it :)thats a bit strong is'nt it the cars are going round a small oval track with cages everything else stripped out no co-driver and as said the idea is to smash s h i t out of each other .dont get me wrong i can see the problem on road cars but not on a banger.

Motorsport is dangerous as it is, let alone with fools bodging cars. I can garantee your tune would change if some one you knew died in a motorsport accident :thumb:
