Hi,
Has anybody owned one of these, if so are they very reliable. Petrol or diesle not bothered. Thinking of getting one as they are very cheap to insure and buy.
Cheers
Nath
Lee had one and was very impressed with it.... LOL lol

Generally pretty good. Not the best off roader but tough & dependable.
Nice & cheap too. Just a re-badged Chevrolet Rodeo from the states IIRC, they havent got too bad a rep in the US.

My bro bougth a speed boat and it came with one, £800 the pai lol and it had 12months mot. Its the 2litre 8valve ohc, and its soooo gutless and drinks fuel, does about 24mpg.
Not bad off road. RWD in standard form, I've had some doughnut fun in the fields lol
IMO i'd go for the diesel alternative, very cheap to run and wont fall apart after 100,000 miles

My mates just got a Trooper 'Bighorn' haha.
Came up cheap and the name 'bighorn' sold it for him!
Quite good offroad. 3.1 TD engine. Good laugh trying to drive up things!
leave well alone, cheap disco imo!

tbh discoverys are cheap as chips at the mo aswell as any other make and you have the best of everything they are comfy to drive , tow really well ,7 seats etc and good on fuel i use mine for everything from on the farm to a trip to the beach or going on hoilday:cool:

They're quite competent off road, I've known of a few that have gotten over obstacles that have broken defenders and disco's.
They're re-badged isuzu's underneath (as is the chevvy version), but they don't have centre diff's, which is why 4wd on non-slippy surfaces is a very bad idea.
The 2.8TD (nicked from the trooper) is the best to go for, just don't expect great mpg from it.
