Im going to be doing some head work within a couple of months so have been doing some research into cams etc. Am i right in saying 264deg is the max i can go before having to pocket the pistons? If so on the piper website and most of the sites ive been on it says that you cant use those cams with standard injection. Am i being a complete :tard: when i ask what are they going on about? What are they saying i have to change?

you can get custom ground 288degree cams to run on std piston pockets. long duration low lift.

i have 16xe pocketed pistons and new arps if u decided to go that route.

264deg are pretty pointless imo. you wanna look at bigger duration than that. you local engineering place will be able to deepen the piston pockets. as for the standard injection not working with the standard injection i dunno what they are on about

The reason i asked is because i cant be arsed with changing pistons and not doing anything else. If i was to change them id rather put omega pistons and steel rods in tbh. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get cams from? I dont much fancy reground cams either because ive heard bad things

How much would you want for the arp's?

i recommend newman cams. also piston pocketing is cheaper than you may think

Yeah ive got a m8 that works for an engineering company so getting things done is'nt a problem just if i was going to take the pistons out id rather go the omega piston route because its more gain for my time lol if that makes sense?

does make sence and if you can afford it go for it

I havent though thats the problem lol. I plan to eventually get around 150bhp out of the engine so im more than likely going to have to change the pistons etc anyway to achieve this.... was just wondering what i can do without touching the pistons for the time being

well its a waste of money buying cams mild enough for standard pistons imo. i would save up for you pistons and rods and do that first with the standard top end. then save up and do all the top end

can see upwards of 170hp on standard pistons/rods (all be it pocketed and with arp's) it's all down to rev limit to be honest. if you stay around 7750rpm you can spec the engine to well over 150hp and be perfectly reliable on the std pistons/rods
