Thankyou very much indeed Dan. I owe you one!
The difference between the 250 and 300 really is negligible, and at the shorter end (whilst there is still only a small difference) I think the shorter 55mm would prove more useful. I'm sold! As soon as I can afford it I'll get a 55-250 is.

Thanks again! :thumb:

Edit - Damn I still can't rep you!

I got the canon 55-250 recently to and have to say its a belter! IS is invaluable. Compared to the Sigma 70-300 its really refined although I still like the extra reach of the sigma for those panning shots...

I also just bought meself a new tripod - slik pro 700DX from ebay (new) and for just over £100 its absolutely awesome - serious build quality!

I've just got a cheapo Jessops TP320 tripod, whilst not the best it seems to do me fine so far :) Now where can I get £200 from for the lens...:wtf:

Does that let you tilt the center column to horizontal?

The jessops ones arent too bad, I've got either a TP320 or TP330, it swings a bit when its windy though. Hang your bag on the hook to make it more stable if you get any shake problems :).
