I recently purchased some new detailing equipment and was keen to give it a try, so with the weather improving and a show at Goodwood looming, I thought it was time for a little TLC on the nova. Here’s the kit I got my lucky mitts on.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1327resized.jpg
As this was in prep for an important show, I chose to double the recommended amount of T ‘Wash n Wax’ to give the car a really deep shine.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1328resized.jpg
It produced large amounts of delicious foam.

Foam

Mmmmmm foam.

Now to get the Nova out of it’s hole.

Here are some of the problem areas!

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1336resized.jpg

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1339resized.jpg
Here’s the amount of dirt on the sponge after just one panel!

Wheels.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1342resized.jpg
50-50 of the bonnet.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1341resized.jpg
After washing it was time to rinse. The open nozzle was used for the majority of the car.

Detailed areas got the flower attachment.

Next up it was time to dry the car. I used a ‘genuine’ leather chamois for this, however due to the time critical nature of this operation, no pictures were taken during the drying. Here is an after shot.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1356resized.jpg
Now the car was clean(er) and dry, it was clear that there was some paintwork correction needed.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1358resized.jpg
I broke out the paint correction gauge.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1359resized.jpg
This was one of the worst affected areas
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1360resized.jpg
I chose to use the wider ‘Permanent marker’ for this correction.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1368resized.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1369resized.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1370resized.jpg
After just one application the appearance was much improved.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1371resized.jpg
After 2 applications.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/dhdev/Detailing/IMG_1373resized.jpg
And finally after 3 applications, very pleased with the final result.

OK dude, look forward to it.
How come you didn't use Evian water in the bucket?
I like to use Volvic "Touch of fruit" (Lemon and lime of course) and then polish using the fine-woven virgin Unicorn skin, to apply the 74 layers of wax

awesome, really hard cleaning session that was, funny thing is. When i opened it I though WTF, werent really paying much attention to the first picture, then scrolled down to the next one see tesco's wash n wax. Then I had to go back up and I clocked on lol
i also wondering what oli was doing 'detailing' a track car, but thought fair enough, pics weren't loading for me so it took til the permanant marker lol
