quick question, what courses noisy tappets, the tick don't seem to go away when hot lol :(

ticking can be a lot of things like cam-shaft wear, broken piston rings or ring lands, sticky/dirty tappets, piston slap, small end play on the gudgeon pin.

Baxter, 20quid says its nothing oil/tappet related.

The ticking you can hear is the injector/inlet valve noise.....

Because of the way the powerbox is designed it seems to amplify the noise from the intake runners. It always did that when i owned it, since i fitted the powerbox :thumb:
Listen around the powerbox and you will be able to tell its coming from the powerbox/inlet.

Ive got a powerbox on mine aswell but mine ticks over stupidly quiet. Are you sure it isnt the lifters? X16xe's are meant to have 10w40 semi synthetic :thumb:

Sounds like cam wear/lifters etc but I guess Adam knows the motor lol Good to hear it may be just the injectors mate, weird how Adam says the powerbox ampilifies them and makes it sounds like tappets etc lol

Time to break out the 1/2" stethascope.

*edit. Vid sounds like rod knock IMO.

Id go with lifters tbh. My old tigra sounded exactly the same but would go after a few mintues of driving

im in 2 minds, it sounds like bad lifter tick, but ive heard a corsa gsi do that with piston slap.

I've got a lifter that sounds like that, sometimes doing it all the time, other times not at all. Would say it was lifters making the noise.

5 lifters gone soft, replaced them with some out of the c16 i got, runs nice now :)

Lifters must have drained when the engine dropped its sump contents lol
Would of expected them to go quiet after a few mins though tbh.
