the no. plate light isnt working, passenger tail light and passenger sidelight, i checked all the fuses and one of them were gone, i changed it and when i turned on the sidelights the fuse went again, i think it might be an earth but i'm not too sure, any ideas??:wtf:
and the front wipers aren't working but when a earth the wipers seperate they work but the other things still don't work?? rare or what??

Wont be an earth if it blew the fuse, you've got a short somewhere as more current is going through the fuse. Don't just stick a larger fuse in as this is how fires start.
Have you done anything to the car just before this happened?

aye a had the engine out to rebuild it, but thats it like, when i was fiddling with the drivers taillight the passenger one kept sorta flickering, and i tried crosswireing it but it just left both of them dim, i can't understand why the passenger taillight isnt workin even though the other side is??
it could be a few things, but with out seeing it
unplug the number plate lamp and remove the bulbs in the nearside rear lamp
replace the blown fuse with the correct rated fuse (probably 10 amp)
then turn the lights on, replace the bulbs one by one till you get the fault
then you will know which bulb/circuit is the problem.
it could be a faulty bulb, short on bulb holder, wireing fault?
try unpluging both rear lamp bulb holders and swap them over and see if fault swaps sides?
good luck

the lefthand side lights are on a separate fuse to the righthand ones
the wires to all the lights should be green/red, with brown earth leads out... remove the bulbs & the fuse, then check each one (green/red) with a multimeter on ohms setting. put the red one on the green/red & the black one on the earth. if one reads 1 or very near it, then you have a short.
does it have a towbar?

on a plus note, the short will be where the smoke is coming from, so you could see it easer lol

thanks very much lads:thumb: , the earth was wired to the illumination on the cd player and then the arieal was acting as an earth for the circuit and then when i snipped the arieal there was no earth!! haha, but that ws only for the tailight, sidelight and no.plate lite!!lol
then the wee box like a relay that is under the glove box was disconnected was the brain for the central locking so thats why that wasn't working,
and finally i put a seperate earth on the wiper motor housing to get it running again!!
thank god for that,
and thanks for all your help lads!!:thumb:
