What are good pads to buy.Its not for track days just day to day driving. im looking to spend around £35 on them. And yes i have looked on search and couldnt find nothing

as adam said standard gm ones are pretty good ive just fitted some to mine
I use standard gm pads on track too, never had a problem with fade. Yet... lol
I have Mintex M1144 on the saloon, they're good.
Celica runs Yellowstuff and they stop on a dime. Dunno how they'd fare on a lighter car though...
Why would it being lighter adversely affect stopping distances? Or do you mean yellowstuff would just lock up at the slightest touch? lol
Possibly. I've heard a couple of bad comments about Yellowstuff before, but they were only from drivers of lightweight FWD cars - all the heavy 4WD people rave about them.

They've stoped making the m1144s now so i've been told by a surplyer.

Pretty sure they still have M1144 in the part number though. Mine did, but came in a "Mintex Extreme" box

standard are great i used to use them heavily and never faded and the stoping power is great.
I've been emailing TMD (mintex) direct and according to them they have NOT stopped making the M11xx range of pads, nor have they rebranded them.
They're now called Extreme or something iirc...

Yeah they are but they are hard to get hold of, been trying to get a set from a motor factor that sells mintex stuff and they are having probs..

My bro upgraded his discs on his 16v SRi Cav to drilled and grooved items. He bought a set of EBC Ultimax pads (Black) for road use, meant to be OEM quality. He swears by them even said they felt better then GM ones he had on before. For the price he said they are top stuff.
I know EBC brand is debated depending on which ones people go for and for what use but Im going by recommendation. Mintex are real good though if not a tad more pricey.

So by the feedback i should go with a set of mintex then, and the disks ive got are red dot 6 grove if that makes any diffrence to when ordering pads?
nope, just means you might get through the pads faster... but that goes for any pads tbh

I can't see the point of getting some Mintex M1144 pads over standard for a road car. Yes for a track car, but not a road car. Plus they will cost more than your budget of £35.

Mintex part numbers for pads
MDB1386 - 1141 standard pad
MDB1386 - 1144 Fast road pad
MDB1386 - 1155 Rally pad
MDB1386 - 1166 Tarmac rally pad
MDB1386 - 1177 Race pad

Unless you are HEAVY with your braking - STD pads will be fine.
1155's are simply longer lasting versions of 1144's.
imho 1144's are what std pads should be :) feel great, stop incredibly well etc.
Yea im not heavy on braking. but even with a smallblock xe it needs much better then my 1.2 brakes.

i would go for gm ones as they would be as cheap as sperious ones from from a motor factor, or apec ones either there a good pad

i had a set off green stuff pads in one off my novas id rate those aswell but i never bought no more beacause off how expensive they are!!
