hmmmm 30bhp for £500 might be a bit of a stretch (esp to be reliable)

Assuming the engine is currently very healthy:

Headwork (ported, exhaust ports polished etc..) for circa £300
A more agressive cam for circa £90-150
Aftermarket management, ancilliaries and mapping for circa £500-1000 depending on what you buy, if its new, and who maps it.

On a standard bottom end you'll need to keep the rev limiter fairly sensible which will limit the cam you can fit, which in turn will limit the power you can acheive. Getting the bottom end balanced will cost you circa £90, and some ARP rod bolts will cost you a bit more, but combined will let you rev higher.

For £500 if you can weld or you know someone who can, you could fit an XE.

I have a lightened and ballanced flywheel for this engine with a clutch thats done around 15miles :) it'll make it rev up quicker
