Stupidly, most manufacturers say in their tiiiny print that you shouldn't actually site a laptop on anything other than a desk as it can impede air flow and overheat.

If its just down to a poor heatsink design could you not just add another cooling fan to boost the cooling?

yeh problem with laptops is they have no room spare to put an additional fan,

maybe buy a high performance fan off ebay for it? or buy some copper based ceramic cooling paste off ebay, the copper elements in the paste help keep the heat to a minimal, may work, an only about 2 quid for enough to do 5 cpu's?

the manufacturer wouldnt sell it if it was a **** design, obviously because its more hassle than its worth, but, it could be your fan is dieing due to age, happened in my ol IBM thinkpad,

as i said, try new thermal paste, and a new fan, ya should be sorted!, if not, send it down to me, an il take a look :thumb:

the fan isnt the problem. thats chucking out loads of air but its cold because the heatsink is ****. the heatsink is taking the heat out of the chip cos its red hot to the touch but then it not transfering the heat along itself to the cooling bit. so basically its **** an theres **** all you can do about it.

already redone the paste aswell novaboi, as i said, give me some credit. im not a complete tard

I use a laptop and it works fine for everything i want to do.
All the high-end spec will be pointless soon, people will be buying the best stuff that is hardly faster than other parts, a computer can only go so fast you know, they can't time travel
