Hey guys here is the score, my mate bought a Nova for Rally-Cross, he wanted the 1600 GSI engine in it. As it happens we found an astra 1.6 Si with the same engine we needed. We have....

Mounted the engine into the Nova
Connected up the ECU,
Sorted out the fuel pump

The Car turns over but we cant get a spark, there is a black plug with a Red and a Black wire that came over from the astra, what are these meant to be attached to.

Also in addition to that, the ECU connectors there are a further 3 connectors that came with the astra loom but have no home on the Nova.

Any Ideas to help us get the illusive Blue spark.

Thanks Mick:confused:

the ignition on wire (black?) sounds like a good candidate. where did you connect the power feed from??? & there isn't a 1300spi nova/corsa A is it 1200 or 1400?

Yeah, the donor vehicle was a Opel Corsa A 1300 SPI (A German spec car). We connected the power feed straight from the battery to the red wire on the plug I described earlier.

there is an ignition on wire, as well as the big red one. the ignition on wire actually turns the efi on. it needs to be connected to the ignition on connection on the ignition switch. most of the sustems on a gm car turn off during the start phase so there is maximum power to the starter motor, the only exception is the 'ignition on' wire. on the old car it should have powered the coil, but on some models with bosch ignition, the wire is resistive & is easy to find as it is clear coated. it needs tracing back to the switch & replacing. then you should get spark.

can you get a german version of a haynes book??? if not, get one off ebay
