Going to be rebuilding my engine very soon. I have the choice of a 1200 or 1300 head. I know the 1200s flow better but do the 1300's differ any way in valve size etc. Will be doing some porting and polishing on which ever I choose anyway.
EDIT: or a C14SE head? Large valves but diff ports yes?

what engine have you got?
C14SE heads have round ports.
What engine, what means of air/fuel?

1200 carb and 1300 heads have cathedral ports, and are almost identical.

Sorry, 1200 block. Got choice of either Pierburg 1B or 2E carb. Probably therefore be using the twinchoke.
Will be Kent Cammed too.

youll loose out on compression using the 1300 head on the 1200 block wouldnt you ?
id keep the 1200 complete with the use of a 1300 inlet manifold to house the 2e, might have to get the carb rejetted if its from a 1400.
edit : keep me informed if you go down this route, wouldnt mind doing something similar myself :thumb:

infact.. i have a 2e carb kicking it here, and possible access to a 1400 cam, might go for it, i cant stand the auto choke on the 2e tho, will have to manual that before hand.
anyone got any idea on the carb jet size ?

Not sure you will have to rejet it. I have one from a 1300 so not going to bother.
However, with mine having 4 branch and Kent slapped in there, the carb will eventually become the "choking" point
I dont think compression is any different between the two heads, just wanted to know if valves were.

mmm.. couldnt tell u for sure, but ive heard the 1300 heads have slightly bigger exhaust valves.
my 2e is from a 1400... im thinkin it might be a tad too much ? if u lived closer i'd do you a swap lol
the ignition setup will have to go with the cam, i have that allready.
