Hello (again:roll: )

Right I've bought a cage off eBay and I was wondering if you lot could give me some advise ?

As its second hand is it worth replacing all of the bolts (just for peace of mind)?

What size plates should be used to weld in as a base-plate (it is bolt in, but I guess you need to strengthen the shell), how thick and what metal should it be made from? (do Safety Devices sell these in a kit ready for a nova?)

Thank you very much

I had a look on Oli's track day build and it looks about three mm plate but I could be wrong and I'd personally replace all the bolts, How much did the cage finish on? Is this for your saloon build? Will it fit?

Yeah its to go in the Saloon, I hope it will fit (Can't see why it shouln't, No sun roof and I've chopped everything out of the back)

Ok I'l order some bolts up and see what Safety Devices do !!

Thank you

Replace the bolts which some new high tensile ones!

You want to use a 2-3mm thick spreader plate under the foot of the cage thats slightly bigger and then weld a plate underneath the chassis where the cage feet sit to spread the load over a bigger area!:thumb:

Hello,

Ok I've found these HERE (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AA-175-S-OMP-ROLL-CAGE-FIXING-FLAT-PLATE-100x120x3mm_W0QQitemZ370124506211QQcmdZViewItemQQp tZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item37012 4506211&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1121%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318) , however will these work ?

I phoned SD and they wanted £98 for a fitting kit?

So the question is , will the cage bolt in with just 6 plates that are flat ? or do I need to get SD ones as they are shapped to the nova to make it fit snug ?

Anyhelp would be great !!

Tom

you want to shape the plate to match the feet of the cage. i would also make the plates an inch bigger on either side of the foot where possible.

also the fact its a saloon makes fcuk all difference as to cage fitting
