View Full Version : abs brakes
hi i have got a 2.0ltr redtop corsa with abs but it seems not to be working i have bleeded them they got harder but as soon as the car was started the pedal goes straight to the floor and the brakes dont work any idea what this could be cheers :thumb:
Nothing to do with your abs, maybe a knackered servo.
Saying that, you can run a car without a servo, so thats not true.
oh yes cheers mate ill get a new one

ok anythink else it could be??
Sure you bled them correctly, checked all the hoses for leaks etc, made sure all bleed nipples are done up...
iirc the corsa abs needs bleeding with tech 2....

Diagnostic program. You can buy code readers off eBay that plug into your laptop.

if you pump the pedal does the pressure come back?
would be blown seals in the MC :(
have you got the vac hose fitted correctly ?

i bleed my calibra abs brakes with the engine running.
have you got the vac hose fitted correctly ?
I thought that makes it harder? I'm sure my vac hose had a leak, and that was causing my pedal to be stiff

i thought i would have to do that but the pedal is soft even without the engine running

as soon as the car was started the pedal goes straight to the floor
servo appears to be working.
have the brakes ever worked or is this a new instal?
could be the MC is too small or the seals are gone. as long as there are no leaks then its all it can be.

i dont know i have only just bought it

its the 1.6 gsi servo with 1.6 brakes
the seals are gone.
how do i check this
cheers
will a servo off a nova fit??
have you checked your rear shoes and cylinders?
if the shoes aint adjusted you will have excessive pedal travel
and if a rear cylinder is leaking it will be soft!
a good check would be clamp off all brake hoses and check pedal then!
if your servo was playing up or you had a vac problem your pedal would go rock hard!! :thumb:

i would say that the master cylinder has gone !! the pedal falling to the floor slowly is tell tale diagnosis for it .
pedal not falling. when u pump it and hold the pedal down it stays hard but when you let it off and put it back on its soft agen
