View Full Version : bit of a bad time... but.
I'm looking to get out of the trade, kinda had enough to be honest and its begginning to really stress me out and annoy **** out of me.
Maybe its where i work, but still been thinking about getting out the trade for a while now.
So, all you jobless bums etc is there really any work out there or is it all tits up at the moment?
The motor trade is really on its ****, were busyish but the company i work for is certainly struggling and there has been talk of us going under for a few weeks.
Im not sure if i should stick it out, or just jack it and go looking for something else...

Hey Rex, As we both do the same job I understand how (somedays) it can be rather frustrating/tedious to say the least! I too have be thinking about it for sometime too but the question is.... What do you do when its all you know? Especially now the country is firmly on its **** makes things no easier. At work were taking each day as it comes hoping we have enough to keep us busy. Id be tempted to stick it out until such at time when something actually does happen to your workplace at least then you'll have no choice but to find another job and possibly a new career. :)
good call matey, thats what i keep thinking and doing But... the place is just annoying the tits off me. Was saying before to Benn...
I got 2.5l of DG vw white to cover a full colour change on a civic 56 plate door shuts, boot floor Rear panelhad been twooted. insideandout ofdoorsand bonnet
I was like... WTF and he moaned about spending £67 on paint for it... I was like FFS its a £1500 job and your moaning about getting me the right amount of paint. Thing is, its getting worse and worse. lol
I'm going to get in early and just get my head down, MP3 player on whala... playing with cars is like you all i've really known for the last 6 years. Its not like were dead... Poor management is to blame :)
Know how your feeling i was beginning of last year, getting the sack for me was the best thing ever now looking back.
Much happier now.

Sounds like he's just out to cut costs mate tbh... Our gaffer is just the same and asking us to use the minimal possible of everything at all times. Mind you I think 2.5l does sound a bit tight for all that work! Grip and hit springs to mind.... 1 coat wonder the lot lol
If you are that desperate to get out, at least find somwhere else first! Be careful where you go too, if you do somthing else and it goes under 2 months later you'll be stuck again. At the moment i think anyone is silly leaving a job unless they have a guarenteed job thats going to last!
I was thinking about leaving mine when i qualified (vauxhall tech) my apprenticship but gald i stayed now, loads of mechanics have been laid off around here. An audi dealer has just layed of 10 out of 16 techs!
Thats the case matey, Head down and get on with it i think...
and Nick, One coat wonder all the way baby wooooo **** yeah. Done the shell just need t o do the doors, bumpers, bonnet, and other lil bits now ha ha ha ha the paint will get thinner and thinner per panel pmsl.
Told ya see thru paint is all the rage....

TBH whilst you still have a job, i myself would be inclined to stay put. Maybe consider a change of job if/when things pick up again? Not sure what it is like round your way but jobs are few and far between round here at the moment.
Dont leave your job,as crap as you may think it is.Stay, but in your spare time look at possible career changes if thats what you want,or look elsewhere, send some Cv's out etc.Ive lost my job through lack of work 4 times in 6 months, and i can tell you this time the dole office is packed with people, jobs are getting few and far between claims taking 3 weeks to process as theres that many unemployed. It really has hit the floor. As tedious as it may be stick it out and thank your lucky stars you have a place to call "work".
send some Cv's out
Link in sig for how to write a good CV :D
