just thought id let you have a look at my Nova, these first few pics were mainly taken in august/sept 2008 but i will update as i go!
It started life as a white Luxe+ 1200cc SPi

Its been fully respayed inside and out in a newish Vauxhall Blue (2004)and all underneath has been shot blasted and re protected , MPI tank and axle in gloss black (will be completely waxoyld when finished) had a C20XE dizzy engine fitted from a MK2 GTE astra, F20 gearbox,

GSi bumpers, novadose skirts and BATmotorsport rear spoiler, Jazz rear wiper arm, delocked, Digidash

Classic Recaros have been retrimmed along with the rest of the interior and the roof lining

all cables, gaskets, seals, brakes are new from the dealer

Poly bushes are fitted along with Harry Hockley strengthening kit, engine bay was welded up also

it now runs and is getting ever closer to my every day run about

let me know what you think

Looks alot like chris t's old one, which was blue, novadose skirts and -90mm.

its lowered 30mm, its on the bilsteins from Courtenay with the correct springs for the extra XE weight1

Surely anymore than 30mm is too much, or makes it very uncomfy????

krobinson
03-04-09, 12:17 PM
It'll be comfy on the billy's, and should handle very well.

I've my Nova turbo down about 80mm and it's still liveable, but then I don't drive it all the time.

i agree in the fact id like it a little lower, maybe 40mm would be better,ut its getting the front springs correct to suit the etra engine weight!

oh this is amazing, who did ya interior trimming, and what fabrics exactly did you use?

used a chap in mansfield called Dave Brookes coachworks, he's done a good job, a few bits have needed extra attention but he's done everything ive asked

i got some fabric from a friend of my parents, he's has a fabric company, generally does curtains!

the blue is no longer available, but it was called ATICA MIDNIGHT

the black is FAUX SUEDE

might have the dash done in black cos ive got plenty left, and trimming the gear gaiter to!

yeah RST chris told me about getting it flocked but im not sure who or where to get it done?

not sure, dont like NOs but it all depends how it drives and if is quick enough as it its, mines prob 160 BHP, as its only got exhaust, filter, re mapped ECU and lightened/ balance flywheel

hopefully having an evo with 360 BHP wont make me think my Nova is slow cos it power to weight ratio should still be impressive, but driving it will be the only way to find out

might do Throttle bodies with independent ECU which should give me an extra 30 horses on standard, 180 BHP would be aewsome!

my bumpers are GSi front & rear, skirts and spoiler arent factory as u can see but might be putting GSi spoiler on yet cos im not 100% happy with one on now

novadose kit is ok, ive seen worse! that jap style shizer

u didnt answer the question though smoothed/ blended or as u see in pic?

u not tempted to go back to gsi skirts i think that would look good

sometimes, GSi skirts are nice but i wanted it to be slightly diif from a factory gsi, hence the colour and the trim etc

im know its not 100% unique but its how i want it, done to a high standard and it has a few touches others may not have

ill be keeping these skirts 4 the near future

so as they are or blended?

ive been loking at this all night, great car by the way jim, however i think the lines left by not blending the skirts in suits the straight/squre lines of the nova! jims is really smooth and rounded off so blending his skirts in was a good move

ive got a few weeks to sleep on it lol

First off really nice car mate, all good thing's being done to it, looks lovely.

Now IF i was you I would not blend the skirts in, as Jim found out they were a bitch to get off when he wanted to rebuild his car,and made more work for him in the long run.

If it was me I would go for GSi skirt's sprayed Gray, as the plastic fades etc.
As for the spoiler, I'm not sure, just looks strange poking into the air! lol

At the end of the day mate it's your car, but it help to get other opinions.

Keep up the good work.

Bought these door pods of Graeme Dixon, today i filed the holes out more to make my speakers fit better, but im undecided wether to fit em or not?

Its too much hassle to combine them with my door pockets, but i cant decide if i want door pockets or sacrifice them for the door pods?????

ive got decent dash speaker and will be having a pair of 6x9's in the false floor so do i really need these?

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/PR-269LEBIG.jpgPIAA DRL LED LIGHTS

Also might fit a pair of these LED DRL (day running lights) in my Ibiza splitter but im worried they'll last 10 minutes with the splitter catching all the speed humps????????? if i do they come on with my sidelights but i will put a override switch in incase i dont want them turned on

Actually started to fit the oil cooler today, after taking theses pics i went to the garage and made some shiny brackets up, did some drilling, filed my grills for clearence, then on my return found some old seat spacer and matching allne bolts which have made it a much better fit (more accurrate pics tommorow)

And the left mounting point will be just right of the O/S headlight not on the cross member/slam panel as you can see it now

gave the oil cooler a bit of a wire wheel, gona do it by hand tommorow to get in all the nooks an crannys, its getting lacquered and the fins are gonna be black

tommorow will fit 100% now ive dummy fitted it and im happy, shiny brackets which ive made and drill holes for the stailnless "p" clips for the braided oil lines, once i have the pipes fitted i can send them back to have them cut to the correct lengthand have the correct end fitted

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/306.jpg
Cleaning up the original bracket i made from the original oil cooler surround, since i took the pics ive made shiny ones and its a bit smaller as im gonna fit the bracket just behind the grill, right of the O/S light!
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/304.jpg
Oil cooler and Mesh grill in place
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/303-1.jpg
Standard grill which i think i prefer at the minute???????, and you cant see the Oil cooler as easy
more pics to tell the full story tommorow

Also made a Shiny Bracket to support the engine loom and induction Hose

tommorow = bumper off, drill holes mount cooler for good and position hoses correctly then get em sorted to the correct length next week

Better pics to suite the above explannations tommorrow

For your rear lights I would maybe try putting twin reverse lights on and see what you think. This is what I've done on mine and just put a red bulb in for the fog light.

As for the grill I prefer the original styling rather than mesh on the other hand get them both sprayed up, then at least you can swap if you cannot decide. :thumb:

Looking forward to seeing the job of spray. lol

Beer :D

this bracket will be trimmed to the corretc length, also see how the hose is not as tight to the rubber as in previous piccy

the large spacer was what id saved from some MK1 astra SR Recaro seats, they have made the job easy and look better than 16 washers
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/041.jpg
actually put 2 "P" clips here for both hoses, just like the pic below
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/050.jpg
the hoses now drop down parallel with the suspension leg to the oil filter housing
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/053.jpg
then marked the hoses up so they can be cut to the correct length (having them done tommorow)
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj128/sparkie1401/045-1.jpg
might put another "P" clip here but its probabaly not needed???????

YES i know the bolt is wrong it's all i had, getting/ordering shiny stainless capped bolts or allen bolts tommorow!

will prob modify this bracket to give the Induction hose some support

i tidyed up some fuel line clips/jubilees and we routed the bonnet cable and some wiringf, didnt take long but iwas happy with how much tidier it made it

Just a quick update

collected my two oil coolers with new ends earlier today, bargain £20 for labour,so now my fancy pipes will fit securely! and i have a spare, beats £230 inc vat from the dealer and that's Trade price £305 + VAT RRP:(

Auto-electrician is here as i type this, fishing through the old 1200SPi loom to remove whats not needed

and then last job hopefully remove the current dash for the following reasons

1) little bit of rust that wants treating/painting/protecting at the bodyshop
2)its then out for the flocked one to go in whenever the Nova returns from paint

which will also means tht as soon as im home next i can start putting the complete trim in

This makes me SMILE:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I would go down the dye route as the only downside with spray paint is its only a "quick fix" and will wear off fairly quickly, this is why its perfect for a valeters trick as the customer will be miles away once they have noticed their carpet has been painted LOL lol

no currently fitted is Vectra V6 5 stud 288mm jobbies

but im gonna change to 280 mm 4 stud Combo/meriva discs for ease and safety and that little bit of extra clearence for the callipers as i have NO idea if they will fit under my 16's

the Brembos are originally from a 2003 Honda Integra DC5 import which ran 300mm discs but these are the same width(25mm) as the 280mm vauxhall discs so should be ideal

also i bought the Brembos in 2004 so have done very little mileage, i originally bought them to upgrade my Civic Type R but it wasn't that simple! so i kept em safe which will hopefully work out tops for my XE
