screamer pipe

right is a screamer pipe illegal becaue instead of a full exhaust coming out the back of the car it a pipe off the turbo and out the front bumper i need to no asap i have bin told it is no as long as it is not to loud so how can i make it not so loud can any one help thanks Jake :tard:

ermmm i didnt think they were illegal mate, i glanza turbo near me has one, but its kind of like a back box hanging out the front of the car, and it is'nt loud at all lol. some sort of restrictor on it could quieten it down abit

lol i have sin a few that are so loud i was thinking how wood you fit a restrictor just like a middle box but how will it all fit as i want it out the side of the front bumper thanks very much

what a good idea. restricting the wastegate would make the boost control much better :roll:

why dont you fit the proper turbo down pipe and save yourself a lot of hassle. rather than trying to impress small kids by doing burnouts in Maccy D's carpark?

If its venting into the atmosphere then you might have a problem as it is by passing the cat and would fail emissions at MOT. If its looped into the exhaust system pre cat then there shouldnt be any problems.

i dont know if it would cause a problem in this case. With the emmisions being tested at idle, the wastegate will be shut. therefor all exhaust gas is going down the tail pipe. so it should be fine.

Good point, cant see it being on full boost at idle or even fast idle lol

Openpipes: Its an offence to allow exhaust gases pass to atomsphere without first passing through an approved silencer.

Weather the pipe is shut on off boost or not is not an issue, an mot tester may not be bothered and emission test should be unaffected, but I think a vosa stop check would likey have your car prohibited and mot voided.
