Right guys, im trying to find a 1600 gsi engine for my nova. HAving a lot of trouble with people messing me about, sellers miles away etc..

Im thinking about just buying a gsi and getting the engine etc and breaking the rest of it.. Peoples opinions please, would i make enough money back on it from selling bits on?

Buy an engine.

Way too much hassle, finding a good car with tidy, saleable bits would be hard imo. And if you do it'll be overpriced due to it's increasing rarity. Plus you'll have to deal with finding somewhere to strip, then advertising/selling/posting parts etc.

Fit a 1.4 16v, a lil different still as most people do the 1.6 16v.

Don't put a GSi engine in it. They're tat and slow. lol

Fit a 1.4 16v, a lil different still as most people do the 1.6 16v.

People fit the 1600 16v instead of a 1400 16v as its just as much work to fit the 1600 and its 20bhp more as standard.

But cheaper tax and a tad more MPG

Ben

who cares, might save you £50 a year! but the engines are harder to find so probably cost more.

i dont think you can go wrong with a 1.6 8v, go well and still let the car handle well enough. there are a few astras that have them, or if your going to do work maybe twin 40's?
