Just a reminder about Health & Safety in the workplace....

If any of you, like me, think a little odd, and have always wanted to pistol whip some one with a cordless power drill........ dont.

I had an overwhelming temptation to pistol whip a Sparky today with his cordy. Yes, it did all end in tears.

So remember, safety in the workplace is of upmost importance :thumb:

You wouldnt see much if I had pics TBH, just some guy in a High Viz top lying on the floor holding his head lol

I told him not to move my paint tubs twice Jack. Some people never learn though.

MIKE, a deliberate act like ****ting a sparky with an inanimate (or animate) object is not actually an accident. thus health & safety can't get involved.

we did a community centre job a couple of years ago & the sparky would get there early, knock our site fence over & drive straight over our fresh block paving. just so his van full of 'his very expensive gear (about £2k incl van)' could be near his workplace. so we used our cheap JCB (£42k) to drag his van round the corner & shoved a skip in front of it then stuck 1/2t of sand on the roof.
Amazingly he didn't get the message & parked it there the next morning. he left the window open by an inch. it rained for 15mins, & we put 30 gallons of water thru the window.
on the third day he left it there again, but had a site tidy up & left 3 barrow loads of crap on our freshly prepped paving area, so I sort of forced the lock & put it all on his driving seat, when he came to complain, I stihl sawed a slab & covered him in dust. He got the message.

been checking this out. Now as far as I can tell, as long as the drill has a hand operated chuck facility, you are in the clear.

He must have a really long extension lead lol

Jack

Noo, he has a battery belt iirc :D

In fact, I think thats the whole premise. Artist gets hacked off with everyone, buys drill and power pack, "horror" (or "hilarity", depending on your outlook) ensues.

To true, real men or boys dont need HSE in the workplace :thumb: Heres a story ive heard about wearing hard hats.A ground worker was working on a newbuild multi storey car park down south somewhere, when the level above him collapsed,200 or so tons falling on him, obviously killing him instantly. His family couldnt claim a penny as he wasnt wearing his hard hat.Like that would have made any difference at all

Carry out a personal risk assesment and deem the H/H a danger as it could cause you to overheat ;)

I passed a hse inspection on a job on a farm just before harvest, when 6 blokes were not wearing hi-Viz or hard hats..

the Inspector turned up wearing a full safety set & asked me why my blokes weren't wearing any PPE except toe-cap boots. I said as we were lowering 2.5ton concrete sections into a pit, the hard hats wouldn't be any use, and he should ask me in 10 mins why we weren't wearing Hi Viz. within 5 mins his clothes were crawling with small beetles..

been putting more thought into Mikes defence... as he is a londoner living in a civilised area, he could use the excuse that it said '1/2" chuck' on the drill, and he did what it said, he half-inched it & then chucked it.. now I'd pay to see someone say that in court
