How much is this worth? bearing in mind the rust in door & the current car market £1800?

Lynsey
17-02-09, 09:49 PM
People are still goiong mad for them, even in this 'financial climate' lol

Dougie sold his Nova to the first guy who came to look at it, got the money he wanted for it too. We thought we'd be out in it at Castle Combe in April because it'd take a while to sell, how wrong were we?!

I think it'll go for just below £2k.

I really want this but dont have the money.

just had another email.

Hi Kris,

Would you believe it, the car has been listed for only a short while and ive had 23 emails asking about a buy it now option.

I an certainly open to an offer and i was hoping that the car might reach £1500 - £2000, so £1500 is the bottom of what i was expecting but if you are serious then I would sell to you for that, but you need to let me know asap.

some one buy it before i get a loan lol

It needs a full door, then you cannot get the Vinyl anymore, so you'd have to then remove all the vinyl and replicate it with Paint or another simaliar vinyl.

The rest looks good, but i'd be concerned as to why those inner arches are red - overspray?

If the door wasnt bad it would be worth 2k, but with the work involved £1500 is fair.

Jack
17-02-09, 11:26 PM
Well what do you know. Thats in my home town :D

Never ever EVER seen it about though.

[edit] In fact, I even recognise the location from those pics. Might take a look round there.

hes a noob for starting at £1 and turning down 2k.

Jack
18-02-09, 12:18 AM
4 hours and 5 bids, up to £250 already. I don't think he's a noob, as someone will no doubt pay top dollar for it.

[edit] Certainly so as its now been posted on here.

It seems my predictions of future values of the Nova may come true!
Bulletproof pricing even in tough times.
Mk1 Escort prices anyone?

Think I'll just sit on my A reg SR, I can feel it appreciating in value already lol

18-02-09, 11:25 AM
before you start running around, cock in one hand, wallet in the other, has anyone actually looked at it?

If the door has rotted out, what else is wrong? It looks like it's had some paint around the front turrets/inner wings and quite possibly rear arches too - panel work you could do to a £50 shell.

If someone pays £2000 for that, they're a chump

Thats not worth the money people are chatting about in this thread, As keith says when you replace door your going to have to replace all the vinyl plus that whole sides going to need resprayed to leave it right! Id pay top dollar for it if it didnt need paint work but in its current state £1k is around its money!

dj_wudgey
18-02-09, 12:19 PM
is say 1500 is fair myself!! but then if i had 2 grand id still probrably buy it!!

IMO what is going to favour the Nova in terms of classic value is the rarity of cars like this one purely because of the number of them ruined & wrecked by muppets when they were so popular back in the late 90's etc.

RS turbo's, Golf GTI's & the like all attracted more mature buyers (typically), therefore nicer examples still exist in larger numbers.

Nah, I'm not quite that bad!!!

I do agree that it will end up over on this island somewhere though, and a silly price will be paid for it.

I personally wouldn't pay the money being asked for it - as others have said £1,000 is it's limit, and that is pushing it in my opinion!

Plus then if it comes over here you're talking the guts of another £500 to get it home, which would make it a very dear car!

I dont think its worth that money. You could build a damn good replica for that

at the end of the day, its worth what someone will give for it. i liked it because its a very early red sr, one of the few novas id own. yep i could build a replica, but then again, id get the usual "its not real" comments. you really can't win.......

Really nice car. keith I dont think its overspray - its an A reg so prob no rust proofing on the arches lol

This I'm guessing is tax exempt (25yrs old)

I'd buy it in a flash - but my wife would extract my gonads through my nose if I did!

Tony Blair & Co. kindly (and quietly) froze the free tax to cars registered before 31/12/1972. Our Ascona A just makes the deadline by a day!!!lol

£1000 imo

If it weren't for the door i'd of been tempted by a punt on it.

Spoke to the vendor, the car had a bit of patching on the cross member and battery box, need too much work to make a show car out off, it's an expensive project
