high iv got a cav gsi c20xe and im going try to solve the problem of the top end sounding like a bag of nails. when i take the filler cap off when its running there doesnt seem to be alot of oil flying about. iv already had the tappets out to look for any sine of damage but they seem ok:confused:
iv done a oil change and filter no luck though lol.
all i can think of is the pick up pipe or maybe the pump.
thanks
jack

Definetly worth checking the oil pick up as it can get blocked with all the crap in the sump.

Pickup in the sump has probably snapped off, happened on my old XE nova, drop your oil, exhaust manifold and sump for a looksee (in that order too lol) if its not off then remove and clean it while youre there then do the same with all breathers.

Questions like this should really be in tech though dude:thumb:

It will more than likely be related to the pick up but double check all the possibilities you can without obviously taking the engine apart and rule them out that way.

My (hardly Feck all lol) money is on a pick up snappage or blockage
As spud said his old xe had snapped and blocked.A little weld later and parts wash did the trick
