Hi guys, been offered an astra f, on a k plate, that has a MINT c16se in it.
Have a couple of questions, is this the same as the gsi? If not, what are the differences? Does it run the same f13? And will it fit in a nova?
Thanks all!

IF it is a SE then there should only be a few differances if any at all.

Gearbox wont have a clutch cover plate but should be a F13?

think this is the engine i might be thinking about putting into my nova.
but mine is spi not mpi
are the gsi's mpi?

Gsi's arnt SPi SE stands for MPI

The 1.6 spi is the x16szr, the c16se in both the astra and nova is multi-point injection.

I'd find a multi-point if i were you.

i think powers the same its just less room in a nova i think dont hold me to it

The c16se are all the same size, i just wanted to know the diffrences between the models, ie does the astra have multi-v etc etc.

They will problery be multi v belts, tbh anything that is different wont be hard to find and most of the bits from the GSI's will fit so go for it

i have a gsi engine (e16se), and when i wanted to change my bam belt and alternator belt, i gave them the engine code and they said they only have the parts in for the astra engine, but they are the same,

my cam and alternator belt fitted not a problem

Iirc the c16 has a cambelt tensioner, and the e16 does not. There's probably more c16 astras than novas now!

sorry i have a e16se, but they still fitted, i am actually confused now, was the c16se in the astra?

Yep the c16se is found in the astra f, as well as the late nova gsi. It uses map+lambda, instead of an airflow meter. All i really need to know is it the same output as the gsi?

I would imagine so being as its the same engine code, therefore should be, the same engine? I reckon the Astra will have an F15WR box though. Its a lot heavier car compared to a Nova!

Cool gonna have a look at it tommorow.

yes the output is the same.
But remember a c16 makes 100hp WITH a cat, whereas a e16 dont have a cat....
So c16 probably makes a touch more.

It might have a wide belt alt on it, but being a k-plate chances are it will be single v.

Straight fit.

Just a quick question, my brother bought a C16se engine with Bosch Motronic Ecu out of a South African astra to put into his nova; however he didn't get any key or transducer with it, will he be able to start it without them as we don't know if the car had an immobliser in the first place.
Also does anyone know if an F13 gearbox off a C14nz engine from an astra fit the above engine?

^ F13 will fit fine.

Been to have a look at this tonight, engine runs sweet as, if a little oily, but has multi-vbelt drive, bugger! It doesn't have an immobiliser though, which is good, and the loom looks neat, (no ecu in bay like e16se) Think i'll have a go at it though, will be cheap enough.
What'll i find the single v trigger pulley on?

iirc nova 1.4 sri and gsi, and a few other astras and stuff

Nova SRi would be best option, as they were all single v.

I used a p-reg corsa 1.2i(dispak engine) setup on my 1.6 16v though, its single v, and has a more modern alternator etc than old nova stuff.

my m8 has a mk3 astra with c16se, same power 100bhp

has multi v as it has power steering etc and different altenator.

Yep my old mk3 1.6 8v was the c16se, iirc it was the same as the nova engines although mine had a crap wr box on it.

If you need a single v alt setup john theres a load of corsa's on McGuinesses, with single v alts and crank trigger pullys :)
