Doooodes..

I'm putting a good 1.2 carb engine in my Nova. But I have a few spares that I would like to fit to it.

I know a 1.3 4 branch will fit.

But will a:

1300 inlet and carb fit? Maybe need to open out ports? Will it run ok with that? I also have a carb off a 1.6? But the enrichment ain't working on 1.6 carb.

F13cr gearbox fit?

Might aswell ask incase... I have a nearly new clutch on a 1300 egine, will this fit 1200?

Is there any other parts I should fit from a 1300?

Cheears

Sorry guys I've just read the articles ection and realised it answers my inlet and carb question, still wondering about the gearbox and clutch though?

yes the clutch will fit but the gearbox swop is pointless imo

im curious as to why your not fitting the complete 1.3?

The gearbox will go straight on and im 90% sure the clutch will be fine with it. Someone can confirm though.

You could always swap the cluster but it should fit as is. My q is the same as Burgo's though!

Cheers lads,

Reason I'm not fitting the 1.3 is because of insurance reasons, wanna keep this Nova on the right side of it. The 1.3 has a fooked head (seized lifters), I could use 1300 block and 1200 head but I don't wanna start stripping engines.

Reason for wanting to fit the gearbox is because the 1.2 engine has a 4 speed gearbox and I want a 5th gear so that it doesn't rev as much at higher speeds. The 5 speed won't sap the power (oo er) too much will it?

I have a 1300 carb, inlet, cam, twin dowpipes or 4 branch to pick from, hopefully that bout get me somewhere near(er) to SR power with the 1.2.

Thanks.

i was gonna do all this to my 1.2 a little while ago but coulndt find a carb so gave up on it, and i didnt want to mess about with my good daily runner so left it as it is.

4th gear is the same ratio as the 5th gear therefore it will still rev the same amount. also modifying an engine will probably put the insurance up more than an engine transplant. that of course assuming you will be declaring the modifications??

Upping the power of the 1.2 would probably cost just as much as putting a 1.3 in.

Looks like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't

hydraulic lifters can be stripped down very easily for a clean up , and can be bought quite cheaply off ebay..
the 1200 head is a straight swap & is pretty much identical.
