Just taken 1993 Nova saloon in for MOT and am told that the rear subframe is corroded beyond all hope and requires replacement.
Anyone any idea of where I might get one and for how much ?
Does the rear subframe from the hatch-back fit the saloon ?
Will from an early Corsa fit instead ?
The car is in pretty great condition aside from this, but it will keep it off the road !
Please help !

Is that "rear subframe" the suspension beam or the chassis legs?

a nova doesnt have a subframe so until you can come up with what it actually is thats rotten its abit hard to help. i can tell you one thing tho, nothing from a corsa will fit

I would assume rear beam and/or chassis leg area - if so, yes you can replace it. A hatchback one will fit.

my hatch has just failed on identical thing, rear suspention mounts. not much metal left down there, so its find another shell and get chopping i think. If the rest of your motor's sound, then it'll be worth it..

def dont pikey it up by filling and undersealing, you and your car will be dead before your next MOT!!!

Thanks for all the answrs, guys.
It turns out that the pressed-steel 'trailing arm' assemblies at the ends of the axle-beam-thingy are corroded well beyond redemption and the area where the rear floor under the back seat meets the sills and wheel-arches is well gone too. This is within a foot of both the rear seat belt bottom bolts and the brackets which the rear-beam-axle-thingy pivots from, so some proper repair is need there too.
What is needed is decent replacement rear-beam-axle-thingy and repair panels for where the floor is knackered. I know the rear brakes, springs and dampers are interchangeable between a 1993 Nova and a 1993 Corsa, so that's why I was asking if the rear-beam-axle-thingy was the same. Around here we have scrap yards full of early Corsas but Novas are getting as rare as hen's teeth !
I guess the repair sections for the rear floor and sills will be available from the usual bodywork fabricators as standard repair sections ? They are shown as separate panels in the Vauxhall parts catalogue.
Turns out the petrol tank is leaking as well !

theres no repair panels left for there but a competent welder should be able to fabricate repair patches. as for the beam, just put a wanted post on here and someone will have one for you

Thanks.
I'm very surprised that there's no repair patches left as these cars are right at the sort of age when they'd be needed I would have thought. The car is being repaired by a guy who usually restores classic Jags, so he's well up to making the patches - but that takes time (= money) and buying ready-made patches is usually cheaper.
I am now looking to buy a decent rear-axle-beam-thingy for the Nova. :thumb:
Also, I am looking to buy another one - a complete car - to make nice so's I have one to drive while i work on the other. The unavailability of repair sections is worrying, though, to say the least. There were so many Novas made and sold I would have thought that it would be worth a fabricator;s while making the repair panels from time to time ?
So, long-term I also want to buy another car as well !

Well most of the panels have now been used up, and no one botherd to do them again i guess.

You can still get a lot of panels though, but there is some work to do, but then again its a nova, its what we all love about them.

Have a look in the Cars for sale and ebay, or even stick up a wanted post here.
