on way home last night had a slight run in with a taxi (meaning he wouldnt leave my rear bumper) one thing lead to another and it went bang after about 3 miles and thats it.
so i did a compresion test today and its got f**k all on 3 and 4 so took the head off and found the gasket had gone on pot 3 and 4.
so confession time the reason it went bang was because when i did the conversion before christmas i didnt uprate the internals or a spacer plate just standard 1.4 sri engine.
so i have been told by a friend to turn the boost back down and keep my hands off it and use a 1.6 multipoint injection head and that will solve any more issuses and sort the compression.
also what boost would would you run 12psi maybe.

Not mullered pistons or anything in the explosion?

When rebuilding take your time, which is especially important with turbo conversions to get the figures right.

The 1.6 head should give you a bit more leeway with CR, but I would still have a look at either chamber work to bring it down a bit more, or use a specially made head gasket maybe.

Leave the boost low, see how it runs and turn it up only when you know you wont get the same situation again.

It is when you cant leave the boost alone and start turning it up yes :wtf: lol

what have you done with fueling id be adding a extra injector to squirt some more go go juice in via a boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator

lasted 7 week at 8 psi taxi driver said it was spiting bit blue flames out
any one else that can give any help would be great
thanks stee

definately get e decomp plate made any engineering firm can do this when you find out what cr you need just take them a headgasket for a template and invest in two quality head gaskets, also try adding a boost sensing fuel pressure regulator and adding a fifth injector or getting bigger cc ones but firstly get a decomp plate then speak to a r/r tuner about your fueling

so use the 1.6 head and a plate thats quite low compression i was lead to belive a 1.4 with 1.6 head was enough because the valves are sunk in to head a bit more than the 1.4 head but will look in to getting a plate made

Get a head gasket copied by a laser cutter (see yell.com). Get it about 3mm thick & mount it between 2 other gaskets.

Out of interest what turbocharger are you running? Also you will likely find that its not much different having 10psi to that of 6psi. Just more heat (depending on the turbo). Is it intercooled?

To much boost with standard compression make's engine block very unhappy.

The head gasket wasnt jumping for joy either

the turbos from a s2 rs turbo escort and it has a good front mounted intercooler and 2 inch boost pipes
