ok now my nova is literally down to a shell, bar the doors, i wanted to know which would be the best way to treat the shell, ive seen the dipping process which all seems ok but it would need to be done twice due to panels that need to be welded on, i was wondering whether having the whole shell sandblasted would be an option or if there are any other options available to me?
cheers

tbh mate - its a nova. Plain and simple. Is it worth getting it dipped, stripped and so on?

Getting it dipped or sand blasted isnt worth it IMO unless youre looking for a show stopper concourse car that you'll never use again.

My advice - stick it on a chassis turner, remove all the old flaked underseal/seam sealer, remove the rust as much as you can (cut or grind away), get it welded up properly, then etch prime the new cleaned metal, cover the underside in red oxide, seam seal all areas, reseal the underside/inner panels etc using either under body sealer or gravitex or hammerite.

For the main shell sand it back but not to bare metal - just enough to get a ruddy good key, remove rusted/knackered panels and replace or patch up, then just get the bare metal stuff etch primed, primer the whole area, spatter paint it, flat back and resolve any dings dents etc, seal these, prime it, flat back and then give it a really good quality top coat.

Depends how much money you want to spend and or how far you really want to go with it. I personally would go for what Ade said as you will end up with a really clean shell that you can drive and enjoy.
