Okay, more about this bloody shelf!

My 'Fun' didnt come with a parcel shelf and it doesnt look much like theres anywhere to fix one to either. Looked in the old Haynes manual but wont tell me anything on it. I just wanto fit a standard one, so what bits do i need to fit it? Tar.

You posted this some time ago but if you didn't get it sorted here's my help.

I'm assuming that your nova is a mk2 3 door hatch??????

If so i had the same problem as you.

This is how i got mine

And this is what it looks like now

What you will need from a scrap yard, that is if you can find a car with them still in it:

before you start. unbolt the rear seat belts from the floor under the rear seet and from the upright piller.

Each trim pannel is held on with 5 bolts and a number of push pins.

Once you have removed all the fixings and the seat belt and the belt guide, feed the belt through the hole in the shelf support.

1x Pasanger side Boot trim with removable pastic seat belt guide.
1x drivers side boot trim with removable pastic seat belt guide
The fixing bolts and the plastic push pins that hold the trim to the metal.
1x parcel shelf

While you are at it you will need the pillar trims, these are also held on with plastic pins. remember to pick up the pins!

Also get the boot light and the switch! you'll see it when you remove the pannel on the pasanger side.

The switch is a little more harder to remove as you need to support the boot with either a person or a bit of wood.

Remove the bent metal securing pin from the ball joint of the gas support and pull the ball joint off the ball stud.

Undo the ball stud and remove the switch and the length of wire attached to it. this might still be attactched to the light. if so, remove the light.

The positive wire(red) should be in your car already.

So just a quick recap of what you should get.

1x Pasanger side Boot trim with removable pastic seat belt guide.
1x drivers side boot trim with removable pastic seat belt guide
The fixing bolts and the plastic push pins that hold the
trim to the metal.
1x parcel shelf
1x pasanger side piller trim
1x drivers side piller trim
piller trim plastic plugs/pins
1x boot light
1x boot light switch
1x boot light wire from switch

If you are quick assuming that you still need these , there are most of the stuff on ebay at the moment.

Hope it helps

Jesus dude! I'm such an arse, nobody answered for ages and so I havent checked the ICE forum for a few weeks while I've been gathering bits for my makeshift shelf-mounting!! lmao

Gutted now! Basically thats what i was gonna do, but got up the scrappy to look at the side panels and didnt like the look of it at all. So I got the mk1 metal brackets off an '84 (complete with smelly green - yes green - carpet) and wapped them in there. They're a perfect fit - they just look well manky :(

The guide is much appreciated though, maybe I'll convert when I get around to it. Pics up soon, so you can see hideous green clashing with subtle grey! lol

No worries mate. Make sure you get it out of the mk2 >91 other wise it's that shoddy stuff you got :D

Mk2 novas have the entire plastic sides but for some reason mine had these shoddy card things in.

At least it's here for if anybody else needs the info.

It took me ages to find all that lot. But i dropped on with mine as a K reg Mint nova arrived, and i got them amoung other parts including the glove box with light (wires are allready there in car) Cig lighter and clock (again all the wires are there) apart from the sodding speaker wires for the rear.
