I prety key up on my mechanics and doing a conversion is something ive always wanted to do. ive desided its either guna be corsa or nova (most likely nova) and its guna be the c20xe or a 2.0 8v but if i go 2.0 8v route its guna get turbo'd, im a welder so all the pipe work etc will be done by myself, but we all know its not a case of just sticking the turbo on. So what i need from any1 who knows what they are talking about is what do i need to do so the 2.0 8v will run with a turbo. ive been looking at some of the outragus pics of the 20let on here and to be honest its made me more keen to do it. so any thoughts tips or full instructions please:thumb:

im guessing its alot of work and money to turbo an 8v not sure as ive never done it,

i know the c20lets are expensive but i think it would be more worth while sticking one of them in than the 8v.

or if you want a quick car for cheap whack a c20xe in :thumb:

Not alot of help i know,

www.vaux-extreme.com (http://www.vaux-extreme.com/) get on there mate, thats the 8v turbo site. join and have a read mate. im sloth on there. the 8v when turbo'd gives silly power in a nova, and is reliable too and cheap. any more q's add me on msn or pm me.

oh and bin the text typing, stu will rape you for it.

turbo 8v, use a c20NE engine, not a c20se/seh. the compression is lower. having just built a 2.0 8v turbo with my mate using a NE engine, its easy really. Make a manifold, get the turbo on, plumb in the boost hoses and water etc to turbo. Retain the standard management, it runs fine as long as you dont go silly with the boost. raise the fuel pressure using a rising rate regulator, get it to 3.5bar.

The last one we done ran a eBay T4 turbo, rs turbo manifold, external wastegate with screamer pipe coming out of the bumper, and that ran for as long as he had it 7/8 months, caned every day at 16psi boost.

The new one only has a KKK turbo, but should work ok, started up fine.

Remove the grub screw from the back of the block for an oil feed to the turbo, and on the block at the front there is a flat disc about 20mm across, drill in your oil return here. Remember you cant run any fifth injectors etc.

This was never RR'd but was in a Astra GTE Mk2 and ran a 15.2 with a slipping clutch (genuine fooked clutch, not some excuse).

brill advice so far people. this site is so much more friendly when trying to do something like this, and better advice. i was a member on the vectra site and any time you ask about this kind of thing you just get the same non adventurous v6 boys saying "get a v6 mate, its cheaper and easier", i dont want easier i want to make something just to say "i made that myself" think you've defnantly swayed me boys 8v turbo it is. keep the advice coming people.

agreed mate, I hate replies like 'just buy a LET' etc....

check this out matey http://cgi.ebay.com/87-88-Pontiac-Sunbird-Exhaust-Manifold-2-0L-Turbo-New_W0QQitemZ250371390532QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors _Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories

Will bolt straight on to 8v and will fit any t2 based turbo ,t25 t28 and i think the gt28r, saves making one.;)

oh i heard taking some meat out of the chambers in the head and machining the piston dish out is a cheap way to drop the compression...... i will be looking into that when i start my build....

so if he uses that manifold it will bolt straight on and be able to use the turbo off say a rs turbo escort the one were the flange bolts on the front instead of underneith

dude i shall be watchin this with interest as iv always been proper tempted to do a 2.0 8v turbo but run it on a mk2 2.0 cav carb :) which i have kickin around :):):)

escort is t3 wont fit, but fiesta turbo is t25 and will fit.... yes that manifold will bolt on, plumb in turbo, raise fuel pressure, limit boost to say 10psi, should be fine.... on standard ecu... or so i m led to believe....

that manifold is from the GM C20GET motor, which is factory turbo'd c20ne basically.

It would be loads easier to run the standard injection than carb, turbo carbd engines can be tricky...
