I am having my Engine and Stuff done at the end of january and was wondering what other upgrades could I do to improve the performance. I am fiiting a 1600cc Cavalier engine, Twin 40 Webbers, K&N filter, 57i Induction Kit and a Full Stainless steal exhaust system with a Magnex Big Bore 4 Back Box. Things like Plugs, Hoses and Alternator, etc... I need recommendations for.

sounds good..... how old are you, and have you checked with the ol insurance?????? you could go further by putting things such as samco hoses, gas flowed head etc....... depends on insurance and hwo much you wanna spend!! where u gettin ur engine from? wot nova isit? id reccomend gettin uprated shocks, as im guessin this def aint a GTE/GSI as ur puttin a cav 1.6 in!

um u cant use a 57i induction kit on carbs

its hard enough to find a standard K&N bolton that will fit between the webers and the bulk head

and magnex dont make a Big Bore 4 thats a peco product, infact im pretty sure magnex only does a 3" pipe for the nova

as for the other stuff

plugs - iev been told to use NGK "R" or summat similar

alternator - stardard will prolly be fine

hozes - up to u

lastly however - that cavvy lump - make sure it aint a big block cos you'd be far better off looking for a proper nova sized (small block) 1.6 than spending all the cash on the conversion to a big block lump

the 57i induction kit would be for an injection system.
hoses and plugs won't make a difference to performance but how bout a high lift cam? also an f13cr (from a gte/gsi) box will make a big difference. porting and polishing will make a slight improvement.

i very much dought a 4 inch zorst is gonna help the preformance.
right this is my advice to you m8,
get the 1.6 8v engine, find a skip and throw it in there,
go out and get a 1.6 16v,alot easyer, and the 16v gives the same bhp as a tuned 8v

cav engine is big block, will need same mods as 2.0 to fit it.

1.6 16v cost more and more hassle. esp if has immobiliser in ecu

lol i havent found many 1.6 16v outta the box that produce over 150bhp????, unless u getting confused with the 2.0 16v that produces the same as a 1.6 8v tuned right lol. Obv if you going 1.6 8v route you will need the nova gte/gsi engine or one from an astra van on 1.6 inj (i say inj cos u fitting carbs so not an issue) say from a j plate or v close to that as others arent 100bhp and arent all small block, some are big block 1.6's from the earlier cars which would involve same work as fitting 2.0
