ive got a 2.0 nova and the heaters dont work very good and also the car its self doesnt get very hot. i got the car and was told the heater didnt work traced that back to the cables not bein conected sorted that out and even now the heat that comes out is very poor. and if i put the fan on for a couple of mins it just gets colder ive got digi dials and the temp gauge never shows any higher then the blue bit on the gauge when driving. ive been told its running a cool stat. ive had a few novas before and none have had crap heaters like this help please thanks

my done the same with the gsi cut out bit on the bumper i thought it was over cooling the car so maybe be that. also check the waters topped up and there no air in it.

Put a proper stat in it. Coll stats are pants esp in this weather, the engine probably doesnt switch off the cold start map, thus wasting you fuel!

Personally I would put it down to either a stuck stat, knackered heater matrix, or cables not opersting the temp flap on the matrix (but you fixed that). Assuming you have coolant in the system thats all it can be. A blocked matrix will fail to warm the cabin up & my car suffered the same fate for years until I bought a new one. (dash out)

Wheel off, stalks off, clocks out, disconnect wires behind going to dash switches, unbolt and carefully take off.

Have to take both out to replace the heater matrix.

Remove the glovebox & instrument cowling.

2 Screws either side of the dash, one down in front of the gear stick (mk 2 only) and 2 10mm nuts up behind the dash. Here's the dash out and fixing locations circled.
