Is it legal to have your number plate in the front of your windscreen (on the inside obviously) some people say it is and some say it isn't.
Jonny
no it isnt because i got fined for it when mine fell of and i didnt bother putting it back on.
Nope its sposed to be attached to the front of the vehicle, it should only be in there if it has say, fallen off for whatever reason but needs to be refitted asap!
i only got fined coz\ it was there for 3 weeks

Mot will fail it, as it needs to be attched to the front of the car, but some testers will pass it.
Police will pull you and say it couldnt be seen fully.

copper explained this to me the other week, its illegal because the traffic cars cant pick it up if its on the inside. so i said oh, il leave it there then! was only joking but he didnt find it funny and fined me lol

I had mine on the rear shelf of my mk2 feista with no plate light fitter in shelf.
The mot tester did ponder its legallity and passed it saying its clearly visable it was also ould western style lettering and honey combe background.
Never had issue with police even when stopped. this was 3-4 years ago and drove it for about 4 years like that.
Did get spoken to by copper in my mk4 escort as had show plate where bumper went and number plate was cut down to fit behind sun visor with sun strip cut out so reg could just be read. They didnt see it though. Had to buy new no. plate
nothings illegal untill you get caught
carry a scuffed one round with you, then when your pulled over simply say it fell off 2mins earlier and you'll re-fix it when you get home ;)
Police are quite hot on registration plates these days. Not worth the risk IMO.

Why give the police an excuse to pull you over? Its not as if your number plate perched on your dash looks good either?? lol

Exactly, if they pull you over for the plate its more than likely they'll keep you a bit longer to check the whole car!;)
